How about renting out executive boxes to various members of the abu dabi group on season long debentures for £x00,000 per week.

Are there any rules to stop that.

Precisely.

We'll just get sponsored by ADUG for the total of our wage bill each year. Simples.

Couple of points with is 3 years away from implementation and many of the major clubs still trade at a loss, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real even the rags with their huge debts. Whateve anyone thinks we are in a better position than most of the big sides as we have no debt and a very good youth setup already. Its not that hard toi increase turnover as long as profit margin is not a major consideration. Increase the stadium sizae to 70,000 for example. COuld be done in this timescale. QUalify for the champions league -would massively increaser turnover. Could we do this in 3 years of course we can.

Its much easier for us to bend these rules and get what we want with our wealthy generous owners than a club in £800 million of debt and owners looking to turn a profit or at least break weven every year.

Governments go after millionaires for tax with money offshore and they get away with it, if you have enough money there is always a way.

What does Platini think, our owners will just walk away from a potential £1 billion investment because he doesnt like them ?

You think the PL wants to discourage buyers comming in and spending fortunes on building up clubs and buying the best players. Thats why the PL is the most popular and valuable in the world.

So to summarise - we will adapt and the prem will fight anything which harms the league tooth and nail as will our government based on the amount of revenue it generates for the economy.

Chill out people we will be OK no point worrying about this.

There is a way this works for us.

Carry on spending and get baned from the CL if we finish top 4.

Disasterous? Not for long. The big 4 cut spending to qualify for the CL but we don't. We win the PL year in year out. Everyone happy? Of course not the Big 4 are at a massive disadvantage domestically and complain again to UEFA. UEFA's threat hasn't worked the rules are changed. We calm our spending and in return and we are in the CL.

You can spend what you like in the Prem.

How will the CL sponsors like no PL Champion allowed to enter the CL ?

Short term problem if we ignore the threat and just carry on.

Platini: "There is one club who won't like this but they don't matter as everybody else wants it. They can spend £300 million a year if they want but they can't play in Europe"

That's what he said.

What does he do if we just say "OK" and carry on? The measure is meant to control us and bring us into line. If we ignore it and go to the front of the line anyway he's lost (in the long run)
Can you attract players good enough to win the PL without being in CL?

I suppose we'll know within 2 or 3 years, or maybe by next May. ***Crosses Fingers***

It shouldn't reall matter to us, because all the Sheik will do is say right the sponsorship with etihad is now 60m a year (or whatever it needs to be to ensure we dont go into debt)

This comment is exactly right, because there will be no limit on sponsorship deals & its part of a clubs turnover...the Sheikh & his team of people are no mugs & are financially better off than the football authorities & can afford far better legal teams...the Sheikh will just see this new idea of controlling spending as 'spicing up' ownership or making ownership more challenging! They wont be worried about this & TBH neither am I, cos its not going to affect us...but I think it'll cause Real Madrid more probs, cos they spent £200million on 3 players who's weekly wages are more than our team put together, so I think Twatini & Blubber have shot themselves in the foot, by putting pressure on their favourite team (Real) & if they impose sanctions on other teams apart from Real then we'll see them on corruption charges...hopefully!

A couple of weeks ago Platini was touting Roman (along with Berlusconi and Morratti) as supportive of his plan. Yesterday Scudamore stated that ALL PL clubs were ABSOLUTELY opposed to restrictions on generating income.

They cant even give Edwardo a 2 match ban for diving.

Do people really think they will be allowed to cripple one of the premier leagues biggest advantages ?

THere has already been serious discussion of a breakaway league for the top europe clubs. If they are not careful they will force it into reality. These measures dont just effect us, most of the major clubs in Spain, UK and Italy have huge debts and often spend more than they bring in. Cant spend more than you bring in. So Real Madird brought in 300 million euros plus this summer to cover thos players and wages ?

Most of it is in bank loans !
