For me, there is no doubt. Ruben Dias has transformed this side and his leadership has had a huge effect on those around him. His presence has helped Pep develop his tactics. First season with us and only 23 years old. CB is a position that normally takes a long time to learn. This guy is a natural. To think we fretted about getting a replacement half as good as Vinny.
An amazing debut season. Well done Ruben.
Young player no doubt at all: Phil Foden gets better week by week. With all respect to David Silva, we dont miss him as much as we feared. Phil will fill his boots soon enough.
Shouts out for many others: Gundog, Zinch, Stones, Bernie and the ageless Ferna, not to mention the form of Mahrez recently.

Can't look past Dias.
He is the main reason we no longer have a soft underbelly which allows those in front to concentrate on what they do best.
I think our success this season has been built on the foundation of a rock solid defence and whilst all have played their part, Dias has become irreplaceable.

100%, look no further than the Leeds game for proof. That was old frail City that day, he must have been fuming watching it :)

It's Dias for me but if you look at the votes totals on the club site so far it's really funny. 25k for Riyad, then Dias is comfortably second with.... 8k. KDB and Gundo both at around 3k. Will be a lot closer once they narrow it down to the top 3 obviously but still, you've gotta give it to the Algerians. They're dedicated as fuck lol

Although Gundogan has stepped up mightily it has to be Dias for me. His mentality is so strong and his character is so inspiring. The way the defenders celebrate a good tackle or important block is all down to him and is a huge reason we've had so many clean sheets this year. You just know he takes it personally if the opposition manage to score against us.

Any of those first 6 names could win it, and would deserve it if they did. All have played a huge part in turning around - and then maintaining - our fantastic season.

If had to pick just one, maybe Dias for transforming a leaky defence into a string of clean sheets, and kick-starting our whole season ? But Mahrez has been exceptional & a regular match winner at the other end too.
Foden's had a crazy breakthrough season ... Stones has come back from the dead ... and Gundo was the top-scorer in Europe in 2021 for a while, until Lewandoski caught up with him. KDB is just KDB - never loses his drive or ability to win a match.

PS: at the start of the season, who'd have predicted that Sterling, Aguero & Laporte would register zero votes ?

Top 2, pretty easy: Dias and Gundogan, they have been great the entire season and changed the way we play. Then, we have KDB, Foden, Mahrez, Stones and Bernardo. Both Torres and Sterling have been awful, so Foden and Mahrez are huge for the team, and they would take the next 2 spots. Now KDB vs Bernardo vs Stones, I've gotta go with KDB. He is simply our best player.

Fantastic: Dias, Gundogan
Great: Foden, Mahrez, KDB, Bernardo, Stones.
Really good: Cancelo, Zinchenko, Walker, Rodri.
Good: Ederson, Fernandinho.
Average: Gabriel Jesus, Laporte, Steffen.
Bad: Ake, Torres.
Awful: Mendy, Aguero, Sterling.

As we had 5 to vote for, I went with Dias, Gundogan, Mahrez, Stones, and Ederson.

Ederson's performances have been even more underrated than Zinchenko's.


Rodri, Walker, Cancelo, Zinchenko, and particularly Foden can be really proud of themselves too.

Gundog for me. His best season thus far and stepped up in the absence of KDB with his highest tally of goals thrown in. His leadership has been evident for all to see. Consistent, dynamic and more mobile. Furthermore you can tell he loves playing for the club and is now fully immersed in it's culture. Diamond :D
