Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

Loftus-Cheek. Pundits seemed to like him, but I never quite see what I was looking at. Wasn't an amazing dribbbler, wasn't an amazing passer, wasn't a goal scorer and didn't set up any goals. Didn't strike me as anything special in a holding role either.

He got called the new Michael Ballack, which for me is compete Ballacks.

Anyone rate(d) him at all?

His parents probably did.

Sounds like the English Enzo. No wonder they moved RLC on.

No, just him.

If he’s a 6, he’s not close to Rodri’s level. If he’s an 8, he’s not creative to be in our side.

5 assists in 17 games for Benfica. 1 goal.

2 in 22 for Chelsea, whilst taking corners. 0 goals.

He’s had one good season for River Plate. The rest is just potential that he hasn’t reached yet, or hype.

The World Cup always creates hype players like James Rodriguez.

My opinion is that Enzo is similar.

I might be wrong, of course.
Enzo played for 5 different teams so far in his career:

-Defensa y Justicia: won the Copa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana (equivalent of winning Europa League and European Supercup with Bournemouth) while being the star of the team, as a number 6.

-River Plate: won the Argie league and the supercup as an 8. Co-star of the team with Julián.

-Benfica: became the star of the team in just 6 moths in a double pivot. Left Benfica at the top of the table in Portugal and 1st in Champions League over PSG. Benfica crumbled without him to the point of almost choking the league.

-Argentina: World cup champion and best young player of the tournament as a number 6.

-Chelsea: first 6 months as a 6, second as an 8. In any position, Chelsea fans love him because he is a gem in a mud of mediocrity. You know how good you have to be for fans to love a player from a team that never wins?

As you can see, that "Enzo has had only one good season in River" line is just not true. Ever since becoming a pro he hasn't done anything other that becoming the star of his teams and win everywhere, except in the mess that the yankee created on Chelsea (only the winning part, he has already accomplished becoming their best player).

Kalvin Phillips won the treble last season.

He wouldn’t be a world champion without Messi.

His career in Europe so far is underwhelming at best. £120m is crazy money for him.

Kalvin Phillips was a starter and star of his team? Dude, if you are going to argue at least be intelectually honest. You are clearly a hater doing a troll job here, there's no other explanation for these kind of laughable takes.

No, I’m suggesting that winning a Europa league equivalent etc doesn’t guarantee Enzo is quality.

He’s not shown any influence in England so far. If he was that good, he’d shine whatever the system?

Maybe he will be better as an 8 under Poch at Chelsea.

The bloke cost twice what Rodri and KDB were bought for.

I get you are invested in him and won’t be swayed, but you have to see what we have seen of him so far too.

Losing 0-1 to Nottingham Forest at home isn’t a great sign of a midfield orchestrator.

Yeah, because football is like tennis, if you're good individually, you will win. We all know that's how it works. I mean, the best creative midfielder of the last few years won games by himself on dysfunctional teams ... or did he?

I mean, Enzo could leave Chelsea tomorrow and his stint on London would be leagues better than what De Bryune did individually there.

Could you show me a similar headline for Enzo?

The press over here rave about him, yet he’s done fuck all apart from pass the ball short lots of times.

If Enzo has 150 goals and 250 assists by the time he’s 32, I will apologise.

I doubt he will as he doesn’t dictate play, nor is he creative.

He’s like a worse version of Frenkie De Jong.

Has Paul Merton called him a flop yet?
