Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

I'm more with the MOTD highlights people than the moaners.

He certainly has days when his passing radar goes slightly awry but even on these days his work rate is phenomenal and he is constantly pulling opposing defenses out of position.

We have been absolutely spoiled watching a fabulous player who makes the difficult things look easy, and as you rightly point out works bloody hard throughout games.

Even when things not going quite to plan, he doesn't stop trying.

My favourite player is Colin Bell but KDB is right up there too. I am a very lucky person to have had/have the pleasure of watching two pure artists at work.

Just realised I got sucked into the wrong thread !

Where is the KDB if fucking brilliant thread ?

He might be one day, but at the moment, he doesn’t control games. He scores a reasonable amount for a number 10, but isn’t very good technically.

Bruno Fernandes scores quite a lot for a number 10. Is he world class?

Yes in the rag loving media world he is.

Cantona by a mile. Scored good goals against bad teams when the rags were already 3-0 up in a era where the Premier League was, at best, the fourth strongest in Europe. Not for a second did any Italian, Spanish or German side consider signing him.

He did nothing in international football and was very poor against anyone half decent in the Champions League.

Better than say aguero? I mean Salah certainly got more favourable coverage. But he wasn't better. Its all opinions though, respect to yours.
Obviously not better than Aguero. Salah’s been consistently one of the top three players in the league since joining Liverpool. He’s the one player I’d take from any club.

John Terry. He was obviously a very good defender, position and reading the game, very good, and got a decent number of goals from set pieces. However, he lacked pace and couldn't play out from the back, could only really play as a right sided defender, wasn't versatile. Compare that to the likes of Stones, Ake, Laporte and Dias, who can do all the things Terry can do, plus more. He also wasn't the best English defender of his generation, Ferdinand and Campbell were both better, in fact that was England's best defensive partnership at the time. I think King would have been better if it hadn't been for his injuries. Then there's the off field issues...

Jamie Carragher. Similar reasons to Terry, but wasn't as good as him.

David Bentley. Hailed as the next best thing, aside from a decent spell at Blackburn, did nothing of any note at Spurs and never made it at Arsenal.

I hate Terry because he's obviously a prick, but he was a lot better with his feet than people give him credit for. He was quite adept at bringing the ball forwards, obviously he got compared to Rio at times who was even better at the ball with his feet. Yes he was slow, but the only time I remmeber him being burned for pace is against Ljunberg in a cup final. He seemed to position himself better as his career went on. He is a huge wanker and that should never be overlooked lol

@ Bentley, excellent for Blackburn but never quite international quality. The hyping up over him was silly. He had one semi decent season at Spurs but all in all nothing special. There is an interview with him where he admits he fell out of love of the game, quite refreshing and honest. I think a lot of these players stay for the coin, he just upped and left
