Player thread : Edin Dzeko (2014/15)

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

Dont think he will get a new contract. But its clear we either have to give it to him or sell him. No way we we should run down his contract and let him leave on free next summer. I certainly want more playing time for Jovetic next year. Agüero should play more if not injured so much like this year. These two factors would really make the playing time of Negredo/Dzeko less. Jovetic is someone you either build the team around him or make him part of a very strong attacking trio, or sell him. Coming in off the bench, he is way too good for that. Also the same would hardly make Negredo or Dzeko really happy. We didnt have much of a problem about it as there was unreal amount of injuries for Jovetic and Agüero. But if we can avoid lot of injuries this would be some kind of big rotation problem.

Still sometimes I cant belive how Dzeko cant handle the ball in basic sitatuions, or how he does nothing for long periods, the necessarry runs, movements etc. Of course I rate his goals, he scored many, had many good games. Still, I think we can do better than him, who is working extremely hard in all the games, sometimes I feel he doesnt give hard time to defenders and in the PL as a striker you should do that.

I think regarding Aguero's injuries its the way hes built and the way he plays bit like that cock Michael owen sharp turning, short bursts of speed its a killer on the old hammy, I think Jovetic is the same too. I agree with you about Jovetic and needing to play all the time, he is that type of player just look at him at the Violi. I have a bad feeling it may be the beast who goes especially if he doesn't score again this year. Maybe that's a bit premature, he may score a hatrick tomoz, when he is firing he is better than Dzeko at scoring the goals and his all round energy and assists, to be fair the green shoots of recovery do seem to be there for the beast but he needs a fooking GOAL!!!! I wish he was in the same form as he was against the bin dippers at Xmas, then on Sunday he would of terrorised them exactly what Dzeko doesn't give you, that boundless energy exactly the way to play Skirtel. This sounds a bit mad but IMO what fucked Dzeko's head up was when he scored 4 at Spurs and the next match he was dropped I don't think he ever got over that? I know it was a long time ago but I think it had a bad effect on his thinking. Totally agree with you John how Dzeko cant control really easy balls, but then the next thing he does is world class!! that sums him up for me inconsistent!! Even when the Beast isn't scoring he still gives 100% that's the difference in the two. Keep the Beast - Let Edin go. He will be in the shop window as Bosnia are in the World Cup, cant let him run his contract down. Nice lad Edin but there is defintley(sic) commitment issues sometimes which drives me fooking mad. If he could play like he did in the derby in three quarters of his games he would be ok.

Too inconsistent and I suppose on high wages also. I would sell him in the summer, though. Also not very young anymore 28 years old I think we should replace him with someone younger. IMO

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

If Aguero is going to be a first-choice player next season (and he almost certainly will be), but is frequently injured, it stands to reason that his understudy should play in a similar way to him, to help ensure continuity in the way we play. Would we be better off cashing in on Dzeko and signing someone more akin to Aguero?

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

Why would people on here get rid of a 20 goal plus striker a season? And want to keep 3 strikers 2 that are very injury prone? Negredo would have to play 50 games a season!

-- Wed Apr 16, 2014 8:10 am --

Think people are talking about replacing Dzeko with another striker. Also, Negredo isn't particularly injury prone as far as I know; he's just had one bad injury this season.
