Yes we have won 2 titles but have also struggled every season after, we have been in the champions league and struggled every year. In any other line of business progress and results are everything and football is no different - those that don't perform are moved out. The majority of the squad have out lived their time and need to be moved on

If you think that keeping hold of payers such as Dzeko, Nasri, Milner, Kolarov is the way forward then you are mistaken. None of those players would walk into Real Madrid's, Barcelona's or Bayern's team and that is the truth

So why then should we stick with them

Getting a bit off-topic, but if your standard for players we should keep is that they "would walk into Real Madrid's, Barcelona's or Bayern's team", then we'd have a very small squad indeed. Aguero and probably Silva would be about it. I suppose Hart might get into Real Madrid or Barcelona' team, but I don't think anyone else in our squad would. However, we've lost plenty of games to teams who don't have a single player who would get into our team, so that's certainly not the only thing that matters.

2 years people are saying Dzeko isn't good enough, but where are all previous players who were supposed to replace him ?
We cant replace him since we are not buying players who are better. All the money spend for Bony we could get a top class striker in summer like Cavani, he isnt happy with PSG because he will always be in Ibrahimovic's shadow.

If Wilfried Bony isn't that good at end of season what will happen ? Club will maybe sell dzeko because they will not accept that Bony wasnt the good target, and we are not dependant to Dzeko, but nothing will change with Bony as second striker, or club will sell dzeko and buy a top class striker but Bony will never play.

O look the Cavani debate again rofl hes shit worse than dzeko so ye lets go with a downgrade...
 
I have a lot of respect for Edin but he has not delivered the goods this year and he actually got injured which didn't happen in his earlier seasons - which possibly is contributing to his poor performances.
To my mind the big issue is whether or not we want four out and out strikers.
Look how successful we were when all strikers were injured. Why not have a squad with just three strikers and boost the midfield with players who can score a good number of goals in a season.
If the decision is to sell him, I will be disappointed but we need to get a mind set that we put teams out on the pitch to combat the opposition. And a squad with just three strikers gives us the option of setting up if with one or two strikers and utilising the goalscoring midfielders from the bench to compensate for injuries. Having a striker sitting on the bench week after week does nothing for their sharpness when called upon.

On reflection the above rant should be in a different thread.
