Player thread: Fernando (2014/15)

It's hard to watch him with the ball, he looks lazy at times and you don't know if the ball's going to go backwards to forwards on the pitch. It's anyone's guess.

A poor version of Fitzroy Simpson or Jeff Whitley. Easy for speedy midfieders to run behind him because of his average pace and lack of awareness . That said Yaya and Dino also can be easily overrun by nippy mobile midfielders. We need more pace in midfield!

He spends most of his time running after people, surely a good dm is anticipating and waiting for the opposition?

Having said that, what do we expect? He played in Porto, is in his mid/late 20s and cost 12mil - he was never going to be a world bearer was he??

If you want a stopper Pellers then push Kompany up into Fernando's role and sent Fernando on a 2 month holiday till we can sell him.
He did it very well for Hughes till he injured his toe. Came back from the injury just before Mancini took over.

Positionally atrocious!

Get's himself ahead of the ball and cannot get back. Stand's there looking utterly lost. He look's punch-drunk and lost at this level.

That free-kick Leicester won right on the edge of the box second half, he stand's there and watched Yaya lose a ball that was possibly 50/50. He is static and makes zero allowance for the possibility Yaya might lose out. Any fucker at any level would have got themselves into a position to defend knowing there was a chance the opposition were in danger of winning it and about to break.

He has absolutely fuck all awareness or desire. Shite.

He is awful, just fucking awful. Offer's no protection to the back four whatsoever. No fucking wonder Kompany, before tonight, appear's exasperated and launches himself into everything when he has this in front of him; he's trying to do this bloke's work as well as his own!

for someone who was brought in to stop players, the amount of times that players skip past him is unbelievable. He would not get in any other prem team in the top 6
More like any team in the top 60.

If anyone didn't watch the match and is reading this thinking "surely he wasn't that bad". No. He was worse.

Offers nothing. A cardboard cutout would be more use. This 'transfer panel' we have must be pissed at their meetings

He entertained our row tbf. The lad has won a raffle to play for us, nothing will convince me otherwise. I refuse to believe we parted with £12 million pounds for him.
joking aside, he like any new arrival will get a bit of grace from me, but so far he's showing very little in any aspect of his game, genuine worry how he's getting picked ahead of Fernandinho (unless he was injured? Not seen anything on that score though)

Woeful - first thought is to pass the ball quickly sideways or backwards - doesn't actually tackle just meanders closely to the opposition player, worst of all slows down any tempo we have, might be a semi useful player in a 'park the bus formation', Porto must be laughing their socks off
