Re: Fernando
I love this guy Fernando. Talk about fitting right in, he seems as if he's been playing with squad for a year not a month. In home matches or against lesser teams at their park, pairing him with Yaya or his cousin fernandinho should be enough to control the midfield. A rotation of the 3 will be necessary to keep everyone fresh/happy. Fernando is a HUGE upgrade over Garcia from what I've seen so far. I hope Mangala can fit into the squad the same way Fernando has.
Against a top team (Madrid, Barca, Bayern, or MAYBE Chelsea at the bridge) lining up with 3 in the middle like this may work.

I call it the Christmas tree formation. 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-1-2-2-1. Call it what you want. The only problem I could foresee would be the fullback pushing forward to provide the needed width and getting caught out of position leaving us vulnerable to the counter. Against a team like Madrid or Bayern that could be bad news.
Or if Pellers wants to play with 2 up top we could play the diamond midfield, 4-1-2-1-2

Although changing our shape from the 442 may not be necessary as it seems to be working quite well. Who knows.
In Pellegrini we trust
