People forget that he is afforded very little protection down the left hand side. He is still a quality left back, usually good defensively but like many of the team he's low on confidence. Given some backing he will come back.
The first sentence is correct but that doesn't answer his action (or lack of it) for the second QPR goal, where he makes no attempt to close down the distance or angle, or the first West Ham goal where he was too close to his man and let him race past him leaving Mangala exposed. Or the second West Ham goal, where he got completely outjumped despite having a good few seconds to anticipate the ball.

That one had me fucking fuming, after Valencia beat him rather than try to get back and help he turned his back on play and walked towards the sideline.

Re: Gael Clichy

Any other manager would haved benched Clichy he's average offensively but so poor on defensive. Seems like every game he's at fault for at least one of the oppositions goals. Ex. West Ham,QPR,CSKA Moscow,Newcastle.

He will surely be dropped next game. These errors he makes simply cant go on any longer. Even if Kolorov is not fit something else needs to be tried.

We have needed a left back for 2 seasons. Both were crap in 12/13 and whilst Kolorov was better last season, he has started this season poorly too.

Re: Gael Clichy

Can't understand Gael, he was superb in the derby and I thought the prospect of him playing all the time due to Kolarovs injury would really let him cement his first team place. What we needed as a team was a regular back four and get back to clean sheets. Alas he was a totally different player in the next two games and that is being polite. Along with Sagna he should be dropped even if it means playing someone out of position. Sagna is so poor I am lost for words.

Re: Gael Clichy

This guy's performances are the most bipolar I've ever seen! He's either Man of the Match (i.e. today, Rags at home) or performs like he wouldn't make the bench at Stalybridge Celtic. It seems there's no middle ground. I don't even think he knows why.

Re: Gael Clichy

Thought he had a fantastic game today. He is so hard to predict - a rooster one day and a feather duster the next.
