Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

How would people feel about him signing for united?

Might cause a few ructions.
Would still get less haters than yaya and Dzeko. As long as you run around a lot on the pitch, you are okay.

He's from Leeds and hates the Rags, not going to happen.

So was Alan Smith.
Good point.

If he does sign for united, I hope we can still give him a good reception when he comes back to the Etihad on Derby day.

If he did sign for the Rags he still wouldn't be the dick head that Alan Smith is, but I could understand the booing, not that I would join in.

One thing is for certain; if he plays against us at the Etihad, the haters all round the stadium will have plenty of opportunity to criticise as he runs round the pitch to get the ball in the box and score against us.

Bring it haters, bring it.

Reminds me of that life long Leeds fan Alan Smith

And was a dickhead way before he signed for that shite club.

Milner aint a dick head.

Milner is the kind of player that wins games by doing the work to create openings and break up things from the opposition, sneering at his work rate as though thats a bad trait for a player to have while ignoring what he brings to the team.

The simple truth is he has never had the credit he deserves from some "Fans" either because they are deluded that a team needs 11 superstars, or more likely they have never played the f*cking game and get their shite from the idiots on 606.

Alternatively; we recognise that there is a difference between players like Carlos Tevez, James Milner and Jesus Navas.

Now all three are people that City fans have praised for their workrate but it's not all equal. Carlos Tevez was the dumbest motherfucker on the planet when it came to pressing and decided to press 3 or 4 players, sprinting all the way across the pitch to do so on numerous occasions. This wasted energy and meant that he was out of position for a quick break not to mention knackered for a few minutes. Sergio on the other hand understands the idea of counter-pressing, whereby pressing isn't just approaching the man with the ball but allowing your teammates to work as a collectivist system by blocking passing routes by slight movements towards the defender who presents an option.

James Milner does the work purely by attrition. He isn't a moron like Tevez and can play in a team based system but he is naive in terms of how often he charges around, both forwards and backwards, and leaves himself an extra 15 yards to run when the ball switches hands. Not terrible but also not good.

Jesus Navas, and I'll remind people that I don't rate him at all and thin we should sell him, knows how and when to press and his workrate is actually useful to the team because they can play for it and build a counter attack around him being in the right position despite helping with the defensive efforts often. He can track a man but also pass him off to Zaba when he needs to.

We need more Navas and less Milners..

If he want out thanks for the service and bye bye no hard feeling it is not like if he was booby moore. Time to get a top AM player.

If the offer to Milner is true (£165,000 per week) and he signs it, he would become the most overpriced player in the history of football.

He will not end up being a regular starter at any top 8 PL team, Arsenal and Liverpool seriously when they see how bad he is he will soon be benched.

Remember Richards, Rodwell, Johnson and Sinclair leaving to show us why we should have given them a chance. They cannot get into bottom half teams same will happen with Milner he probably knows we are going to sign a few in the summer therefore should not be near the 1st team.

He cannot pass, cannot cross, has no control and uses his left leg to stand on but hey he can run so lets pick him every week! Should give Mo Farah a contract as well then.

Sense no make,

Learn to read then.
