Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

All this talk of Milner not being good enough etc is quite frankly disappointing.

A player that every week never disappoints, granted has never been a star man but will regularly be a 7/8 out of 10 player to some to say he should go and good riddance is crazy.

We need a player like a Milner to add balance to the team whether it be in central midfield on one of the flanks or even as a 'false 9' he has delivered.

Casing point 1. Last year watching us at Liverpool getting battered with our midfield over ran trailing 2-0 at half time. He came on on the right wing (I think) and had a tremendous input into the game. I know we did lose the game eventually but a much better 2nd half nearly had us take the points in a game where for me it was almost over at the time.

A credit to our team, if he decides to move then so be it he has been tremendous for the team picking up an FA Cup, League Cup and 2 Titles I will always consider this guy a legend. I hope he does sign for us mind.

All the best Jimmy.

I honestly don't quite know why he wants to leave? He plays for one of the best clubs in the country, regularly winning titles, and plays regularly as well. I can only imagine he wants to leave, so he can start every week.

Which I can't see him doing at Liverpool or Arsenal.
Maybe arsenal but definitely not liverpool, could see him starting regularly in that dippers team, especially if Sterling superking goes.

If it's playing in central midfield he wants then I'm happy to see the back of him. Just not good enough for that role. I'm guessing the only "big" team that he could play that role for would be Loserpool?

We know Liverpool are in for him so maybe this contract talk is just our way of getting Liverpool to unloosen the bolts on the sterling deal

Milner is out of contract in summer. Thus, there would be nothing to negotiate with.

My view is Milner is waiting on what is happening to various managers (Arsenal, Liverpool, City) in the summer.

How would people feel about him signing for united?

Might cause a few ructions.

He's from Leeds and hates the Rags, not going to happen.

So was Alan Smith.
Good point.

If he does sign for united, I hope we can still give him a good reception when he comes back to the Etihad on Derby day.
