He was playing LB and he was very good. Good pace, cross and shoot. He was young, british and he had all the opportunities to become an excellent LB.stony said:rapidCT said:Yet another example that the board is not doing the job! Letting Boateng, Tevez, de Jong, Javi Garcia and now Nastasic leave, is beyond my understanding. I remember when Bale was offered to us for about 4 mil pounds and we said no. In the last years we added little to nothing to the squad improvement.
You're making it sound like we turned down the Bale who tearing past defenders and banging them in from every angle from 30 yards.
Bale was offered to everyone for the same money and no one wanted him. At the time, he had never played in a winning Spurs side and was considered something of a Jonah.
Lets not the let the facts get in the way of a good rant though eh?
He was a very good left back, yet Spurs were trying to get rid for £4 mill and there were no takers ? They put him left midfield to cover an injury crisis and found his true position by accident.rapidCT said:He was playing LB and he was very good. Good pace, cross and shoot. Agreed yet still spending quality money. Baffling.

If he was that good surely for £7mil Mancini would have been in for him.

Both Milan clubs made plays for him.

(Roma also wanted him last summer but we didn't end up with Benatia so they signed someone else: <a class="postlink" href="http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/roma-asked-manchester-united-for-nastasic-and-money-for-benatia/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciome ... r-benatia/</a>)
But he chose Schalke. Nastasic said here he had offers from Italy and England (West Ham allegedly):

Perhaps something went on because they could have sent him on loan to Schalke (with no clause to buy for peanuts), putting him back in the spotlight after being frozen out, then let the highest bidder have him in summer.
He has been much better than Matip at Schalke and I bet you Schalke wouldn't accept a penny less than £10m for Matip. Some time in the spotlight playing at a good level can do wonders for a price tag.

He loved city and we loved him, he was the only one who cared when we lost the FA cup final
He was definitely a confidence player and I think the fact that Demichelis was playing instead of him even though he wasn't playing the best could've knocked him and caused him to be a bit shaky
However it's still a crime how we can buy a young player for 12m, see him make a world class debut at the Bernabeau, progress massively and earn a reputation as one of best young defenders in the world with Varane, then don't play him at all and don't even include on the bench against Sheffield Wednesday and then sell him for less than 7m, Schalke must be laughing at us
I still hope him the best and that Schalke treat him the way he deserved.
