Player thread: Pablo Zabaleta (2014/15)

nope, people would be disappointed, but no riot

£ for £ he's been our best player since the takeover but he's thirty, time to look forwards, unless we give him some more rest

can't wait till mini Pab is ready to fill his shoes

Have to say it's baffled me that Sagna hasn't been given more of a role. Seemingly obvious that Zaba needs a rest. He's played a huge amount of games over the last couple of years.

If Maffeo continues to improve at his current rate, he might be the long term replacement for Zaba.

I would be loathed to see him go but re-signing Trippier could be an option to increase our home grown players. That would also mean giving Sagna more games that I'm not confident about.

No chance, not with the lack of quality RB's in world football, he's still right up there as good as anyone. Maybe if we can start to get Maffeo into the fold and he can prove his worth under Zaba's wing then we could consider him leaving in a year or two, but that's a big if. The guy is a fantastic guy to have around the club and I wouldn't even consider letting him go

Sagna did OK in defence Sean but was useless going forward. He didn't get an understanding going with Jesus and Micah couldn't manage that either. Attcking fullbacks are crucial to our style of play so - heaven forbid - Zaba goes as part of the Pogba deal, I woukd look at Trippier again.
