Player Thread: Patrick Roberts

I agree. I think that he needs to play at a senior level somewhere in the Championship ideally.
clearly a talented lad but I dont see why wasnt just loaned straight back to fulham for a season. I suppose theirs a benifit with learning the city game and training with some world class players. City must feel that the kid has a big part to play in the future

He wasn't playing much for Fulham in the latter part of the season so there's much better clubs he could get a loan at although I'd rather he stayed here and got game time with us.

Still cant work out what our plan is for him! Maybe he has an injury as it seemed very strange he wasnt involved yesterday

Honestly other than the fixture pile up later in December I can't see him getting any game time other than Hull in the Capital One Cup. Think at this point a loan in January is what's best for him.

Wasn't even on the bench tonight, would love to know the long term planning with regards to his future, but to be honest I don't think there really is one.

I'm hoping the reason was he had an injury.

agree as i said he needs a loan, he's not developing here, training is all well and good but he needs games. he should have been on the bench, but even when 3-0 up pelle decides to bring on demi.

Needs a loan in Jan. He needs to play senior football and I understand the only time he can do that here is in the domestic cups if at all, but if that is the case then send him to the Championship for the second half of the season

Hasn't looked great at the eds lately.

He's never played for the EDS. Only the u19s, three times, weeks apart. He really needs regular football somewhere somehow, seeing as that is nowhere near enough games to help him gain form/confidence

My bad, I assumed the EDS were the champs league squad.

Probably will play tonight for the U21's.
He does need a run of games and a loan would be better than the EDS.

Nowhere to be seen tonight for the U21's - do the club expect him to develop into a potential first teamer if he plays no football whatsoever?!

Surely there's a plan in place for him? Could he get a January loan having learned well from the likes of Silva, Nasri and Navas?

I can only assume that he's just not been impressing as much as the club hoped he would in training. I have to say that I don't see much from him to suggest he's anything like ready for our first team, nor even a championship team who expect a level of consistency. Barker strikes me as the far more ready player and even he is struggling to get game time at the worst team in the championship. Hopefully Roberts is just taking a bit of time adjusting to his new surroundings and can really kick on in the second half of the season and push for a place next year
