Player Thread: Patrick Roberts

Really can't discount the standard he's up against there. The scottish league is bad enough but they are barely above a good Sunday league side.

Reminds me somewhat of Jack Harrison's goal for NYCFC.

Very good work from the young lad.

He scores a few like that. Jinking in from the right wing.
Indeed. They both have a similar playing style, build, and youthful tenacity. I actually think if both carry on as they are they'll find themselves in the first teams of Premier League sides, if not one of them wearing sky blue (or what passes for it according to Nike, anyway).

I only know about Roberts. he is terrific. Makes very difficult things look so easy. Looking forward to seeing Roberts in a City shirt.

Roberts is going to be a star. Hopefully Rodgers develops him right at Celtic. He'll be battling for starting time by this time next year at City.

Shit opposition but that really was a cracking goal. I have been very impressed with him every time I have seen him play for Celtic and he always seems to have a goal in him, which is something that has been criminally lacking from most of our wide players. I'm hopeful he will be given a chance to prove himself here next year.

Rodgers has huge form in developing wide players. Swansea had a bunch, including the rubbish Scott Sinclair and Raheem looked great in his system.

So I fully expect Roberts to look great at Celtic, but the system plays to the strengths of the wide players.

Didn't Rodgers say he thought Roberts was more like a number 10 in his eyes?

Very true, there's a good reason we looked at him as a no 2 a few years back - the uppet management def rate him

Soooo........do we all now like Rodgers again?

every touch from the game on Wednesday...Magic left foot, but if i'm being critical, he needs to work on his right footed crosses a bit. Good lad. 7 goals in 10 starts.

That's great. His technique is clearly marvellous and the ball properly sticks to his feet. There was one scuffed right footed cross in that, but that happens. Who cares when his left foot is that good?

Yes, that was a lower opposition, but you can only beat what's infront of you and he must have completed easily over 10+ dribbles there and could've had 3/4 assists and scored a couple. Let's hope he gets better at the team and defensive side of things because he clearly has the footballing brain and vision to be a star if so.

Still think we messed up with the 18 month loan, as long as he's starting, I'm going to hope Celtic make it to the Champions League group stages so he gets a proper go against some good opposition. I think he'll walk to player of the year in Scotland.

Astana away should be a good test this week, they didn't do too bad in the Champions League last year.
