Most of his passes are sideways or backwards. This is because naturally he is a central midfielder. Someone who distributes the ball from the center rather than someone who wants to create a goal scoring chance for a striker.

Are you as giddy at Christmas as you are on April 1st?

Position Apps Goals Assists Rating

ML (Midfielder - Left) 10 4 1 7.51
Sub (Substitute) 7 1 0 6.36
MR (Midfielder - Right) 5 0 3 7.73
AML (Attacking Midfielder - Left) 5 0 3 7.52
AMC (Attacking Midfielder - Centre) 3 0 1 7.04
AMR (Attacking Midfielder - Right) 3 0 1 6

It is widely accepted that Ozil is having a bad season. Did you know that Ozil created more chances than Nasri ? And more assists ? They played the same amount of minutes.

I don't think passing sideways or backwards is a trademark of a central midfielder... pretty sure Yaya Toure looks forward most of the time? Or is he an attacking central midfielder. You need to stop spouting so much shite. Nasri is not a central midfielder.

Did you just miss the point there entirely mate? Central Midfield is Nasri's least productive position bar right wing, which it's level with. Cutting in from the Left onto his favoured foot is a massive part of his game.

Yaya ? He passes in all directions. Sideways, backwards, forward, that's what central midfielders do.

Of-course Nasri is a central midfielder. Just because he doesn't play there very often doesn't mean he's not a central midfielder.

-- Tue Apr 01, 2014 1:12 pm --

What do you mean by "productive" ? A central midfielder who efficiently distributes the ball is "productive" enough for me.

Yeh you know what, you're right, Negredo is a centre half too cause he's good in the air at corners, never mind that he has never once in his career played as a centre half, facts are inconvenient.

Actually 54% of his passes are forwards (only 0.7% behind Silva), he also has a 91% pass completion rate, higher than any other regular player. In his last 5 games his pass completion has been over 90% and has only once dropped below 80% this season. He's also made 53 key passes this season, second only to Silva (71), made 6 in his last 4 games, matching Silva.

That's funny mate cause his passing accuracy on the left is in the 90+% range, whereas in the centre it's a lot lower. Maybe cause he's playing out of position when he's in the centre. You know what, I'm not going to bother arguing with you anymore, it's a waste of time.

Negredo has no experience in that position so you don't have any evidence that he can actually play as a centre half. Whereas Nasri has played as a CM many times. He has all the attributes of a central midfielder.

How many of those "forward" passes are actually side passes ?
