We're hearing Nasri was kept out as a precaution by #MCFC for the Sporting KC game, slight twinge around the hip area, but we'll keep track

Hoping this is nothing. We're definitely going to need him for beginning of the season!

Re: Samir Nasri

Here's an update on his apparently small injury problem..

PhysioRoom.com News @physioroom · 2h
#MCFC boss Manuel Pellegrini insists he has no concerns over the knee injury sustained by Samir Nasri during their final game in Scotland

PhysioRoom.com News @physioroom · 2h
"(Nasri) worked yesterday with the physio, we’ll see when he starts kicking the ball if he can play vs AC. I think for LFC he'll be ok" #MCFC

Good, better for us. Final fuck you to an ungrateful national team.

Re: Samir Nasri

He is giving up his international career to focus on his club football. This is very good news for us! I hate when bitter fans insult his intelligence.. if you actually read what he has to say, you can see he is a thoughtful person. I posted his quotes in MEN below. His family lives in France, and it's hard for them to see constant criticisms of him in the media. It doesn't make him happy, so why play for the team? I think that's a pretty mature decision.

I really hope we all get behind this lad and show him love, because he is giving the rest of his career to our club now!

And after a summer of soul-searching, 41-capped Nasri has made a decision on his international future.

The 27-year-old stopped short of making an official announcement, but is dropping heavy hints that City will have a fresher, more focused player in the coming seasons.

Nasri, who signed a new five-year-deal with City last month, said: "I'm excited about the new season. The Premier League will be really hard, every team has bought quality players. So it's really exciting and we are looking forward to the start of the season.

"I don't know, it's always good to have a long summer break but you have to find a good balance - too long is not good. When I came back I suffered a little injury but I'm quite fresh and I just need more games to be ready for the start of the new season."

Asked if City will benefit from the decision he has made on his international future Nasri said: "Yes maybe - during the international breaks I can stay and work a little bit more. All the players who played the World Cup and have lots of games during the season with their national teams can get tired, pick up injuries, that kind of stuff. So I think I will be fresh."

Nasri's history with the national team is chequered to say the least.

In 2012 he was banned for three games for an expletive-laden tirade at reporters after France's quarter-final exit against Spain.

Of the official announcement on his international future Nasri added: "It's not something you can just announce on Twitter. I've to sit down do a full interview and just say it. I'm just 27, I've got time to play. I will do it when the time is right.

"Even before the summer, during Euro 2012 I had a lot going on. Personally it doesn't affect me but it affects my family. They live in France, they read the press stuff like that.

"I live in England I'm fine with everything they said and I'm used to it. But for my parents it's really hard. I want to make them happy and the national team doesn't make me happy."

And with Nasri winning two Premier League titles in three years with City and the club now focused on European glory, Nasri is confident he can fulfil his ambition with the Blues.

"With the national team I didn't win anything with them," he said. "So it's more easy to take this decision than if we'd just won something. And like you say, when you play for a big club, and you play lots of games it's easy to come to this decision."

Think Nasri will miss out on a lot of games this season. If Jovetic remains injury free, and with Fernando playing the big European games, Nasri will likely be the one who misses out. Will still get a fair share though.

Re: Samir Nasri

He deserved to go the WC, he's been scapegoated many times for the teams political issues which weren't all down to him. The country is always on his back and he could do no right in a French shirt. All the comments he is receiving about his ego, about being a wanker and spoilt; well we haven't seen it in a City shirt so he can't be that much of a wanker.

Good on you Samir, keep up the top form.

Re: Samir Nasri

Season under Mancini he didn't look like he was enjoying his football last season he looked a different person to a different player, he looks like he's enjoying himself now whether that's down to different management or down to finally settling in Manchester I hope his form continues!

This all day long. He takes an absurd amount of flak in France. He apologized publicly, he had a long thoughtful interview on Canal Plus (French tv) in which he recognised that he'd done rash things at Euro 2012, what more do they want? I've had discussions with ordinary French people about this, and they've just made up their minds about him, as they did with Cantona. And we know what he went on to do. Really like this lad, who, in the UK at any rate, comes over as polite and thoughtful. He knows he's good, why shouldn't he? That's not arrogance. Thought he had a turning point season for us last year, and was finally Learning to work alongside Merlin, rather than being in his shadow. Long may he contribute to our club.
