Re: Samir Nasri

He is benefitting from being on both sides of cup finals. He had lost his last two cup appearances at Wembley and so made sure it didn't happen this time. He wants to win trophies. He isn't happy just winning the odd game or coming 2nd - he wants to win. It is why he joined City and he has the hunger and desire to win things for City - he has a temper and a confidence that can go against him at times but he has more than proven he is a quality player and one to keep at the club.

Re: Samir Nasri

Interesting interview just yesterday in L'Equipe with him.
L'Equipe notes that he was MOTM for the final, and the journalist got him on to how he's perceived in France. He said that he's disturbed at being so disliked in his home country (I'm not at all sure that he is any more, in fact, outside of journalists), that's he's aware he comes over as arrogant sometimes but that you've got to believe in yourself, or you're never going to get anywhere at this level. He also said, in one simple word, that he now feels liked and accepted at City. The journalist tried to draw him on his relations with Pellegrini and Mancini. Obviously, he was on his guard — footballers can't say anything without it going round the world on Twitter or U Tube in the twinkling of an eye — but it did clearly emerge that he ended up thinking he didn't have Mancini's confidence, and that he now feels that he totally has Pellegrini's, and really appreciates that. He says that in some ways the relationship that he has with Pellegrini reminds him of the very good father-figure type relationship he had with Wenger. We forget that although these guys are earning a huge load of dosh, they're basically quite young and not in their own country. They're more insecure than we think. They can be substituted, for reasons that may not be obvious to them; they can be dropped — same problem. Worst of all, they can pick up an injury that brings their entire world crashing down. Just look at Lakey. I'm not getting all dewy eyed over these guys, as I've just said, they earn a cartload of money for kicking a football around, but these are points that are worth bearing in mind.
Thought everybody might like to know about L'Equipe interview. Incidentally L'Equipe were amongst the worst offenders in witchhunting Samir after the Euro fiasco. They went on and on and on. I'll just add this: one thing I've noticed is that Samir invariably comes over as quietly spoken and courteous in English, and not always so in French. Funny thing, isn't it?

Another assist from Kolarov

Always looked the most likely source for a City goal in the 1st half with his crosses being the sole City threat

Nasri's strike is something else. Celebrated Nasri's goal a lot more as that took us into a winning position

Another assist from Kolarov
=====
How many is that now this season? 7?

On saturday, Baines got his first in almost a year....

8 assists from Kolarov,

Nasri is a brilliant player, loved the passion he showed and it was definitely my favourite goal of the game! Sign him up!

8 is phenomenal.. as I said.. Leighton Baines had an assist on saturday.... his FIRST since April 2013...

Kolarov has improved so much he is now one of the worlds best attacking left backs... Forget Luke Shaw... Not in the same league

No. He joined for the money and the money only. Along with all our other players. Why would anyone else want to play for little city?

Watching back some of the videos from Sunday, I'm really pleased at just how much winning on Sunday meant to Nasri. You can tell from his reaction to Yaya's goal, his reaction to his own, and Navas', the look on his face when VK dropped half the cup, the look on his face as the team showed off the cup after the presentation that he was having a whale of a time. He was loving every minute of it.

It's been said a few times this season, this lad is really enjoying his football, and given that he had lost the last two Wembley finals he played I think he will have enjoyed Sunday even more.

And long may it continue.

Re: Samir Nasri

French playmaker Samir Nasri has revealed he is ready to open talks with Manchester City over extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The influential France international is currently contracted to City until the summer of 2015, but is eager to prolong his time with Manuel Pellegrini's team.

Nasri has featured in 22 of City's 26 Premier League games so far this term, scoring four times, and has made six Champions League appearances.

City's ambition of lifting the Champions League trophy in coming seasons attracts Nasri, who scored in the 3-1 Capital One Cup final triumph over Sunderland last weekend.

"Talks? I know they are planned," he told L'Equipe.

"The officials called my agent to tell him we have to talk. Then, we will see.

"The objective is to win the Champions League in a few years' time.

"But when you are happy somewhere, I can't see why you should have to change scene."

City will look to reach the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday when they take on holders Wigan at the Etihad Stadium before looking to overcome a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Re: Samir Nasri

When you look at that midfield, it's going to be around for years. It's frightening really. Only Yaya is getting up there in terms of his age (I forget, has he hit 30?) and given his style of play he could play at top level for at least four more years.
