Lescott was a much better defender always clearing up for him when he made mistakes. It was lescott though who got all the shit. While kompany was prayed to high heaven

Don't know if that's true but it did happen to Demichelis last season !

I still think he will come good again and I'm sure there would be plenty of takers for him if we sold him. For me it's form, Pellegrini constantly changing the back four, Zabaleta going off the boil at the same time and no defensive midfield cover.

I think the new manager when he is appointed in June will get Kompany back to playing at his best.

Pellegrini "we will score more than you" tactics don't suit our defenders at all.

Lescott got no shit from me. I always thought he was a more reliable back four defender over a whole season. He might not have had much 'football' to shout about but he could chip in with a goal from a set piece and, apart from the little wobble v QPR last day, he was SOLID!! I wrote in a thread a fortnight or so ago that nobody has come near the Kompany/Lescott combo of two or three seasons ago!

I'm sure I read last season that Kompany had expressed doubts about our attacking style of play saying it exposed the defence.

At the moment his confidence has totally gone and he should be dropped as much for his sake as for the team.
It did Hart good last season and saying Vinny has to play because he's captain is just a cop out.

I agree that the rotation is not helping any of our defenders. Ridiculously Zaba is the one who is rarely rotated and now appears to be
nearing burnout after playing basically nonstop for two seasons. It's poor management whatever way you paint it .

I very much hope that Kompany comes good next season under the new manager (inevitable after this week) but I'm not 100%
convinced he will. I doubt that we would have plenty of takers at present if we did look to off load him, certainly not for big money.
If we could use him as part of a swop deal for one of our major targets however I would be very tempted to let him go.

Some very big decisions need to be made in the Summer both in terms of management (Txiki's role and Manuel's successor)
and playing staff. It feels like the end of an era.
