Maybe VK has lost his' confidence ' because he can't count on his GK to keep out the goals & challenged for the crosses.

AT SB, our defense was brilliant, VK et al, limited Chelsea to 3 shots and 2 were on target. Our GK postioning, and or non-challenge for the volley across the goal mouth, was poor leaving a big gap on his left for Remy to steer it in.

You can't blame VK for that as Hart was the last line of defense.

VKs dip in form is just a symptom of a wider problem. There is clearly something much bigger going on behind the scenes here. We are not a happy camp at the moment and Vinnie will be his own biggest critic despite some of the abuse he gets on here from those with short term memories. Has he had a poor season? yes but he will be back to his best as soon as we get a manager in that has half a clue what hes doing. Barcelona is the perfect example of a game that we went in to with suicidal tactics, got pulled to pieces for the first 45 mins and then, all credit to the players, at least managed to pull something from in the last 45. Bring on Denayer, angelino and a new manager this summer and our defensive worries will be gone

No we conceded a soft opening goal and the players went into shock

We didn't press them at all in the 1st half. In the 2nd we got right on top of them and were looking the better team until the sending off

Kompany should have been dropped months back. Pellegrini is clearly hoping he'll play his way through this bad spell, which of course he might. I just wish he'd get back to basics and try to galvanise the team if and when required though that must be difficult if you're struggling with your won game.

I agree that we went in to shock but at the risk of repeating what has already been said a lot, our formation was all wrong and we would work really hard for ten mins to get a touch of the ball only to give it away cheaply a few seconds later which was partly the players fault, granted, but the formation wasnt helpful for free flowing, passing football. The only criticism i would make of Kompany is the game (i think Chelsea last year) when he screamed at Nastasic on the pitch for what, IMO, was actually Kompanys mistake. I just have a sneaky suspicion hes an asshole to work with in defence

When you have Kompany looking poor in defence, I think it's time to admit the tactics aren't working.

You can't blame VK for that as Hart was the last line of defense.

3 shots on goal because they where not interested in going forward.

Regarding the goal, ur at the wind up if you blame Joe for their goal. IMO nobody was at fault as it was a pinpoint pass, followed by an exquisite volley and finished off well by Remy, the ball actually went past VK who chose nit too touch it as he'd have most likely popped it in his own net.

Vinny needs dropped for a few games, if nothing else it gives him a boot up the arse, much the same as happened with Joe Hart last season
