Kompany would walk into any team in europe, he hasn't had his best season but has still been one of the league's best defenders! He isn't even at his peak yet and people are saying he's done, Aguero isn't scoring as regularly anymore will we shift him as well?! Kompany is one of about 5 genuine world class players in our team and we can't afford to lose any, there are very few world class's cb's available to replace him.

World class is bandied about far too often, think it should be said for top 5, 10 at a push for positions like wingers, players in their position... We have two world class players Silva and Aguero.

There are a lot of players who can be World Class in one or even two matches and then they go back to being their normal ordinary self. Vinnie has been World Class for so long that now he is having an ordinary season it stands out. Class is permanent form is temporary. Vinnie will be back to his fantastic self very soon.

His head is fucked. Not ever going to be the player he was. Sad but we need to get rid while Demichelis still has some legs.

which line do you use ? , i find the 500m , 100lb sufficient , anglers weekly have some cracking offers on , at the moment.

Strange spell Vincent is going through.

Head seems full of wobbly trifle. Didn't look that bad for Belgium tbf, not great but ok, but the two cards were childishly stupid.

If you look at the stuff which regularly happens to the central defenders of Barca (& Spain) Real (& Spain) Bayern etc, then it's hardly a huge upgrade on Vinny even in his present shit form. They drop bollocks in every single game they play, win lose or draw. You only have to look at the goals Bayern & Barca have conceded against City in recent times. Awful.

Vinny in decent form,is on another planet compared to all of them, & on top form, in another universe. None of them can lace his boots.

Their people know that, & would trust that form is temporary. We should do the same. if he was made available, all of them would want him, & if we sold, we would end up a laughing stock when he came back to haunt us, year after year.

That's certainly true - we judge Vincent harshly because we are used to him being so solid and dependable. He's now making silly errors but it's just a loss of form and confidence and it will come back. He's been too good for us to now throw in the towel after a run of poor games. We'd only see him go elsewhere and show his ability. The Prem has had some of the best defenders in Europe over the years so to be the best in England means you're likely to be one of the best in the World. I'd say that level has dropped off in recent seasons, shown by the way Terry still remains the best defender at any other top side despite his age. There aren't better options than Kompany out there. He can defend against physical players and he can defend against quick skillful players, not many can do both.

For anyone who watched England the other day, it was evidence of how a system suits certain defenders. Jagielka is fine against physical strikers (though still allowed Pelle to score) but when Immobile came on he couldn't cope with the movement. Similarly, Italy like to sit back and they were comfortable when England had little movement in midfield, as soon as the pace came on and we ran at them they struggled. Kompany is a rare breed in that he can cope well against both types of player. Not many defenders could perform well both in Mancini and Pellegrini's defensive system.

OMG! Someone speaking the truth

Sadly there are no City players that would get in a world eleven. Silva would make the bench though!

Vinnie by his high standards has had a poor season, but lets be honest people, the season Vinnie has had so far is still light years ahead of the rags central defensive clowns. Vinnie will come good again. our defenders sometimes must have the same feeling they had at the alamo, loads coming at them and no one coming to help.

actually, no it's not. Smelling is having a great run over there right now.

The problem with this discussion is that it is always either couched in soft feathers or someone going all out nuts the other direction.

The truth as I see it, without the sugar coating is this. Vincent Kompany has been an error prone, rash, free kick conceding and overall average CB for closer to 2 seasons now. And he hasn't had a World Class season since 2011-12 season. Since that season he has steadily declined with each season being poorer than the one previous.. Whether we like it or not, or believe he'd revert back to old form is simply speculation. He may or may not: we don't know. What we do know is that he hasn't been the fantastic player he was during the first title run.

Everyone hopes and believes he'd regain form, but there are no guarantees, worse still is that unlike Aguero, who may be in a funk now, Kompanys funk has persisted for a longer period. And that's worrisome. I like many hope he regains form.
