Fuck me is there actually a discussion on selling Silva?! Good thing Txiki doesn't take advice from Bluemoon.

I think people are reacting without properly reading what people are saying. Silva is a top player and if it were up to me he'd be going nowhere. But we've bought Sterling and KDB and are seemingly in the market for Sane and Isco. With David's age it's entirely possible that Pep may want a younger more dynamic player. Would it then be a case of Dave being more of a squad player or would he then want a move?

With the age of Silva Vinny Toure etc it's natural that at this stage conversations will be had about our and their long term future.

It feels ridiculous to even have to say this but really it's not a slight on David to suggest that one day he may have to either play a lesser role in side or move on for more game time. If it were up to me he'd retire with us. But whether or not that happens we shall see.

A player will need at least as much as his injury time to get back to decent fitness level. David was out for a month since early October but still we rushed him back in the squad late November.
Nasri's injury forced Pellegrini's hand, if we had another playmaker in the team we could have prevented him to get back so early.

Those talking about his age need to consider that Silva just turned 29, which is still very young for a number 10, unlike strikers or wingmen,
these can display high level of performances till their mid 30s ( just think about Zidane, Pirlo, Totti, Del Piero , etc..).

Cant be arsed reading back as I'm lazy, and its been a tough week in work.

Is it people saying it might be the time to sell and put KdB in that role, as someone on Twatter (or other online nonsense) has stated they can't work together?

One or two users gave it the old "he's on the decline and I think he'll be gone in the summer" and a few others started saying how much they think he's worth.

Other than that, it's people wishing him a happy birthday.

I often ignore the "you are not a real City fan" crowd when it comes to these decisions. Ronaldinho was 2ice the player Silva is and Pep binned him at Barca. So absolutely, 30 yearolds Silva is not safe. Nor is over 30 Fernandihno. These 2, frankly being 1 and 2 in terms of players fans like. It's one thing to marvel at what a great has done, something else to project into the future.

I said it to a lot of derision last year, that i'd swap him for Isco easily. Better scorer, better dribbler, better defender, sturdier, faster, but with slightly less vision. But most of all, Younger with an up trajectory. In 2 years I'd rather have Sane, Sterling, Isco, Debryune, Gomez and Stones all hitting their mid 20s with one or 2 30 yearolds. Otamendi, Joe and Clichy perhaps for experience.

All this says nothing about how I feel about Silva. Just that common sense suggests it's a young mans game. I could See Silva at DM though.

Fair enough, mate. Just caught me totally off-guard when I saw posts about how much we could sell him for. Nobody really knows what Pep will have in mind and I'm sure the boys upstairs will give him authority to bin whomever he chooses.

I think Merlin's style of play would let him perform at the highest level for a couple of years yet (provided his ankles hold up to the abuse) and I hope those years are with us! Maybe the heir apparent, Isco, will finally make his way here by then!
