if andrea pirlo can still dictate games in europe at the age of 34/35, which he did while at juve, im pretty sure silva can do the same, build your team around this rare gem, not discard it after couple of iffy games, the lad is a genius

I think people are reacting without properly reading what people are saying. Silva is a top player and if it were up to me he'd be going nowhere. But we've bought Sterling and KDB and are seemingly in the market for Sane and Isco. With David's age it's entirely possible that Pep may want a younger more dynamic player. Would it then be a case of Dave being more of a squad player or would he then want a move?

With the age of Silva Vinny Toure etc it's natural that at this stage conversations will be had about our and their long term future.

It feels ridiculous to even have to say this but really it's not a slight on David to suggest that one day he may have to either play a lesser role in side or move on for more game time. If it were up to me he'd retire with us. But whether or not that happens we shall see.

Probably the best post ive ever seen on bm.

We need to stop doing this flawed analysis. 1 the league was different. Italian league is considerably slower and more tactical. 2. Players age differently.

So simply because one great player did it at an advanced age doesn't mean another can. Ronaldihno was greater than both Silva and Pirlo in his prime, yet he barely made it to 29 before he couldn't hack it at the top anymore.

This is not to suggest bin Silva, just that these false analogies are just that, false.

Silva has been a great player for City and could continue being that or could be moved. Both are options. Most talented player to ever play at City, but the hope is that there is better to come in the future.

Said same about Yaya 2 years ago. And while he is still making some plays most think he should be gone now. Even the best almost always lose to age.

Well put. For me, it's all about being objective about what is best for club and player; whichever player.

When Dave has a few quiet games it is aww diddums...when yaya has a the same he is slaughtered...Dave is a good player... a world beater? never and im not sure if he ever has been... my namesake was a totally different player, now if you would have mentioned my occupation as opposed to namesake you may well have someone similar...who btw would have eaten dave for breakfast, dinner, tea and supper in the modern day game.

sorry we are going o have to agree to disagree.....he is a genuine world class player

as for comparing modern day players to older players it just isn't plausible as the game has moved on so much since then

oh and bio was a fantastic player as was bernarbia and berkovic but they are still a level below silva.........who is himself a level below the likes of messi, ronaldo but he is in the next bracket of players.

The arrival of Pep will rejuvenate Merlin's stance in our squad, when he's on his game he's the best passer in the league bar none. Pep will embrace that talent not discard it?

can we see Silva and De Bruyne in the same team?

It's being posed as one or the other. Silva weaves, De Bruyne runs. Why can't Silva play De Bruyne in on goal. Don't see why they can't play together in front of the two Ferns
