Guess I was the only one who appreciated Merlin today, oh well. Hope its not a case of a gimme that he plays superb every week so no one bothers mentioning him.
Is that you dave?
Stop being a needy ****!
;)

He was brilliant again today but when are referee's going to give him the protection he deserves? He was damn near rugby tackled today in the second half and clattenburg waived play on.
Thank you Saddleworth. You're right I wince every time a player goes through the back of him. Being protected nicely by Pellegrini by taking him off early.

He was solid today, not exceptional like the 3 previous games but he was still good. We were slightly more vulnerable when he was on the right and it was a good move to bring Delph on for him. When De Bruyne comes, Silva needs to be the player behind the striker.

Fella that is a great summary ? Which I totally agree with

I genuinely don't understand the stark difference between the way hazzard is protected and that provided to Merlin. I agree it was good he was given a rest today. I love that he stays on his feet despite the fouling. His balance is supernatural.

Lovely assist for Ferny's goal, one little body swerve and a reverse pass took 3 or 4 defenders out of the game. He makes it look almost too easy at times.

I know I saw it at the game and I have seen it on MOTD; but I still don't quite don't believe how Silva weaved some of his magic today:
[1] For the first goal to keep possession so long whilst 2 players hung off him and another trailed in his wake, then to somehow deliver a pass to Sagna who crossed to Sterling to score.
[2] Three players hanging off him this time, yet with a body swerve, the space opens up and he delivers a pass to Fernandinho for the 2nd goal.
Magical David Silva just denies the laws of physics on occasion. Just amazing - truly the modern day Merlin.
