He wasn't just 'a bit unfortunate', he was dropped right in the shit on both goals by poor defensive covering from those who should know better. A huge mountain of shit was falling on top of him and he tried his best in split second circumstances to deal with it.

His body shape was fine. Had he not been so unlucky and it'd had gone out off his head for a corner not a single pundit or poster would've criticised his body shape. Very snidey and sloppy punditry from Chuckleface.

Using MOTD to support your point is barrel scraping of epic proportions imho mate. This the same MOTD who mentioned absolutely nothing about how excellent he was in his debut against the league leaders? Sounded more like an opportunity to undermine the lad's confidence in much the same way they tried with MDM last season.
Sorry, that's complete rubbish. It was very poor defending from Mangala for both goals.

For the first his body positioning was totally wrong, there's no way he should've been facing his own goal.

The second he was ball watching and had no idea where the Hull forward was, before sticking out a clumsy and unnecessary leg.

Of course there were other contributing errors, such as Clichy getting skinned, but Mangala's individual defending was very poor.
Are you saying his over all performance was poor or just the two errors? I've not had a chance to watch the game yet so it's a genuine question.
He had a somewhat catastrophic 20 minutes which was compounded by the two goals. Otherwise I'd describe the remaining 70 minutes as pretty average.

Anyone who saw him play for Porto would know that he has moments of rashness in him but he has all the ability to be a dominant CB when he matures.
It didn't cost anything in the end and I'm sure the staff will work through the errors with him so in a perverse way I'm sort of glad he made them.

I'm sure on one of the films on the Official site of the new training facilities it mentions that Vinnie gets all the back four together to analyze the weekends performance. He has great role models to learn from we just have to remember he's just a young 23 year old lad still learning his trade. Alls well that ends well with regards yesterdays win, even though I nearly crashed my car when they went 2-2!!

Re: Mangala

Having re watched his so called 'mistakes' his OG was unlucky and like said previous 9/10 would have gona out for a corner, sloppy play by 2/3 players in front of him caused the cross in the first place. His high challenge - he never once took his eye of the ball and was again unlucky for the fact the hull guy was there. I've seen Komps make the OG mistake before and I'm sure he'll do it again at some point. With the second - de Jong did pretty much the same thing to alonso at the euros (that time it looked much worse) but had less of an outcome due to area on the pitch. He's a good un and has THE best centre back in world football to learn from.

That's just because MDM is used to the league. MDM took 3-4 months before he came into top form

Absolutely. So we use mangala carefully till ready.

Of course. But he needs to learn from his mistakes whilst playing alongside the best centre half in the world. He's not going to learn much more from the bench, is he? However, MDM will fill in as appropriate. Lucky us, eh?

agreed, as i say though we must pick the right games. starting with home games.

Re: Mangala

He's a big boy who just had a bad game. Only way to make it better is to get out there and play straight away. Without question will be a huge part of our growing future.

Re: Mangala

Did he in fact have a bad game? Or just a nightmare ten minutes? I haven't seen any of this match yet, and I'd really like a balanced, fair assessment of his performance over the whole ninety minutes from someone.

Well, that's concise.

Think he definitely lost confidence after the own goal then lost the bloody plot after the pen! After his performance against Chelsea and Wednesday i still think we have a gem on our hands and am glad we got him

After the o.g. he tried too hard not to make a mistake. A fairly normal reaction for someone getting used to a new team. No reason to think he won't grow into the job. A couple of last ditch tackles, a few good headers and he will be fine. Undeniably rapid
