Great signing. He has every attribute to be world class.

Pairing him with Kompany is mouthwatering.

Finally......I don't think we have any defensive worries at all.
I agree re Komps. If you were planning against us, you'd think about our left back? Kolarov superb going forward. But tracking back? Clichy: now the weak link.

Fcukin hell FI someone was saying earlier that Boyata is 4th choice, if that's not a worry I need some of the tablets you are on mate ;)

Yep,i'm more than happy with that four.Boyata is plenty good enough to play alongside any of the other three and the game time, probably in the Cups, will do him the world of good in terms of his development, believe me,there is a player in there!

we have Sagna and probably Fernando for emergencies plus the ever improving Denayer - it's all good!

I'm so happy fuck knows how many times I've been on the Mangala transfer thread since January.

No disrespect to Demichelis, I loved what he did for us last season he is clearly a very classy defender.

But if it's true what they say, what Pellegrini says, about Eliaquim. Then in my opinion the last potential weakness in our squad is gone.

Now I just feel everyone else can fuck off with their big name signings.

Our club has once again done some lovely business this summer and this is the icing on the cake.

I just can't wait to see him alongside Kompany :D

We are defensively strong, however,if you had to target a 'weakness' then it would be left back.I do think we can improve the position but those players are short in supply.

Mangala is a decent left back as well I am informed, and besides,he and komps are plenty athletic enough to cover the ground.

Love your optimism.....Denayer a better prospect though.

Ricardo Rodriguez in a couple of seasons (unless Bayern snag him).

Guess Porto were just waiting to complete this deal......now that Mangala gone!

Transfer News: Ivan Marcano joins Porto from Rubin Kazan

<a class="postlink" href="http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9417398" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9417398</a>

Porto have moved to fill the gap left by Manchester City-bound defender Eliaquim Mangala by signing Ivan Marcano from Rubin Kazan.

The 27-year-old Spaniard, who spent the 2013-14 season on loan with Olympiakos, has signed a four-year contract at the Estadio do Dragao after Porto paid Rubin an undisclosed fee.

He will slot in at centre-back after France international Mangala was sold to Premier League club City for a reported 40million euro fee on Monday.

Marcano told Porto's official website: "I am very happy and proud to come to a club like Porto, who have history of winning titles and some truly fantastic fans, the best there are in football.

"I know what awaits me and I'm prepared to help the team win and get back to claiming trophies."

Porto finished a disappointing third in the Primeira Liga last term and have been busy reinforcing their squad under new head coach Julen Lopetegui.

The most notable new arrivals are winger Cristian Tello and midfielder Casemiro - from Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively - while Holland left-back Bruno Martins Indi and Ghana right-back Daniel Opare have strengthened the backline.

Spanish goalkeeper Andres Fernandez, left-back Jose Angel, midfielder Yacine Brahimi and Atletico Madrid duo Adrian and Oliver Torres have also signed up with the 27-time Portuguese champions.
