I know the new season is in its early stages, but Eliaquim Mangala is looking the beast we all thought he would / could become.

Despite the hysterical media headlines about what a waste of money he was, it's interesting to note (again) that we only lost two games that Eli started last term.

It was clear in the six games following the swamp derby, that we had a potentially great player on our hands. We conceded four goals (two each against Villa and Swansea) and kept four clean sheets.

This season, Mangala (and VK) has started off as if he intends to prove all the doubters wrong before the end of August.

Let's hope he continues to do so.

You should copy this as a memo to our Player Recruitment & Retention Department.

Are there examples of where clubs have successfully rotated 3 centre backs?

Do Real Madrid not rotate Pep/Ramos/Varane quite a bit?

Either way, if Kompany can't fix his customary injuries it won't be a problem. Would anyone be shocked if Otamendi/Mangala is our first choice pairing by the end of the season?
