Mangala had a poor game but coincidentally all our centre halves have poor games when we play Yaya and Fernando as a pair in the middle of the park.

Last season Kompany was apparently finished as Mangala and Demichelis had a very good end to the season, this year we've conceded one goal with Kompany playing and equally Mangala had had a good start to the season up until the West Ham game.

Get our systems right and our defenders look decent, got them wrong and you a whole lot of knee jerk reactions.

Can't understand anyone slagging off Mangala on the basis of that one performance. Him and Kompany kept 5 clean sheets in the first five PL games this season. It's Kompany we miss, rather than Mangala being crap.

He also played in the last 6 games of last season partnering Demi, we won all 6 with 4 clean sheets.

Surely Mangala was bought for the long term? His head's been in a spin, even before the horrid Paris events.

He seems to be well-established in the French squad and so should learn quite a lot from the Euros on home turf. At the moment, he is our youngest defender at first-term level [Denayer being away, of course] and so may yet be our future defensive rock. Stranger things have happened.

It hasn't been just 1 calamitous performance though has it? Saturday was about his 5th nightmare game since he arrived.

He's been part of a defence that had 9 clean sheets in 11 games from end of last season to beginning of this. Wind your neck in and cut him some slack. The whole team was horrible on Saturday. Mangala was not alone in that.

Agreed and it is also the lack of support in front of them that doesn't help

Doesn't Mangala have the most clean sheets over the past 2 seasons of all defenders
