He's been part of a defence that had 9 clean sheets in 11 games from end of last season to beginning of this. Wind your neck in and cut him some slack. The whole team was horrible on Saturday. Mangala was not alone in that.
Eliaquim Mangala - the new Richard Dunne?Always prone to a colossal clanger though
Can't understand anyone slagging off Mangala on the basis of that one performance. Him and Kompany kept 5 clean sheets in the first five PL games this season. It's Kompany we miss, rather than Mangala being crap.
Was watching the game again and noticed his position was absolute gash, each time the ball reached out midfield: he always rushed out. Don't know how difficult it is to understand that, it was the job of Fernando/Yaya to cover him but he still felt he could rush 30 yards and win the ball.
I would think it would change in the 2nd half with Fern's and Delph, but no he felt the same urge to rocket forward leaving our defensive shape to the hounds and fking up Demi (who is slow in moving across the line) and Kolarov's position. It seemed like we were playing with a 2 man defence (Demi and Sagna). His head was clearly not in the game. Rant over.
Ahhh, you obviously believe in fairytales. Well in this fairytale, Mango isn't ever going to be good enough for the PL. Anyone with eyes can see that.
