Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

Apologies if already posted;

Frank Lampard has no agreement to join New York City FC, according to the Premier League.

The new club, which enters Major League Soccer this year, announced the signing of Lampard on a two-year contract in July.

But the 36-year-old subsequently moved to Manchester City -- it was thought on loan, but with a short-term contract that, on Dec. 31, was extended for the rest of the European season.

It came after talks involving five parties -- both clubs, the Premier League, MLS and Lampard himself -- and provoked criticisms from fans in New York who had bought season tickets.

And now the Premier League, while clearing Manchester City of wrongdoing in the issues of Lampard's contract and ownerships, has cast further doubt if the former England international will ever play for New York by insisting there is no deal finalised for Chelsea's record goalscorer to sign for them.

"Frank Lampard is registered as a Manchester City player until the end of the 2014-15 season," a statement said.

"The Premier League has sought and received assurances from Manchester City that there is no agreement in place between the club or City Football Group with New York City FC relating to the player."

Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber told Sports Illustrated earlier this week that when Lampard's move to NYCFC was initially announced, the player actually agreed not with the new club but with the City Football Group, a worldwide company run by owner Sheikh Mansour that owns both clubs and Australia's Melbourne City.

"We need to work hard now to move forward and recognise that Frank will be joining this team in July," Garber said.

New York City director of football Claudio Reyna said on Dec. 31 that Lampard would cross the Atlantic to join them, stating: "He is eager to get to New York once his commitment ends in England and will be available to play on arrival as a permanent member of the squad given he will come to us having played at the highest level."

This is funny. Media trying to kick up a storm
In a teacup. Lamps has joined NYC. He has not signed but he has joined via MCFC first and foremost. He will sign for NYC in the Summer. It's the media who jumped to the conclusion he had signed for NYC and MCFC on loan. More fool them.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

Maybe it was done that way to simplify extending his contract with us - we just have to say, "well, he is our player".

Probably just has verbal agreement with nycfc thats why they announced him.

Laugh a minute this, we've played a blinder!

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

This is Brilliant

They moan when he is on loan they moan even more when he isn`t

Effectively it changes nothing.. Why did we have to do it this way. Probably to keep the FFPfiles and Uefa off our back. The wages have always come out of Citys bank account

Well done city again - always several steps ahead.

Looking forward to the prick Saggars head exploding on talkshite later.

MCFC ruining footaball since 2008. lol

To appease the NYCFC fans why don't we ask our players if any of them fancy a few months of playing football in New York during our pre season?
I can imagine what my response would have been had my manager said 'about your summer holidays, fancy giving them a miss and working at our other depot?'

Yes mine to, but were not footballers being offered the oportunity to live in one of the best cities in the world for a few months and play a game we love. If I was a city player with no kids I would be up for it.

This would be great, but I thought they were in New York City?

Talksport hosts having a cow today. Bunch of babies or else they are just feigning indignation to stir the pot.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

MLS now says that Lampard was in fact signed last July by City Football Group [CFG], the umbrella company owned by Sheikh Mansour which runs City as well as clubs in Melbourne and New York, to play in MLS in 2015 and 2016. The intention was always for Lampard to join City until the end of 2014 before moving to New York, although he was expected back by the start of 2015.

However, on New Year’s Eve, City announced that Lampard’s “contract” had then been extended, while the manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that Lampard could even stay longer.

Although Lampard has another year left on his contract with CFG, he is yet to reveal what he intends to do in the summer – move to New York or stay at City for another season.

so he is owned by the city football group, probably was much easier just to register him as a man city player, probably just a verbal agreement as clubs are owned by same people and originally the intention was for him just to train with city and perhaps make a occasional appearance if there were injuries(arsenal game). not sure what all the fuss is about, he will go to new york at end of season.
