True though.

Brilliant reactionary stopper but other aspects aren't quite as excellent.

He might not be a Van der Sar or Valdes with his feet but he's not half as bad in that aspect as some suggest. I just find it pretty sad that after a good performance and on the lad's birthday some people are lookIng to be critical. You said yourself he's a brilliant reactionary stopper and for me the best in the world on one on ones. The guy will go down as City's greatest, he'll probably be England's most capped player and break the Premier Lge clean sheet record.

I'm sure he will - but better than Eike Immel? Come on!

Joes distribution leaves a lot to be desired .

Yawn.

Very good PC language there Gaudino, you've obviously been on a middle management 'how to appraise staff' course.
I agree with your comment but for 'reactionary stopper' I would have said 'in shot stopping in one on one situations'.

Back to his best in recent weeks.

I don't know why someone doesn't try and coach his distribution though, if he can get that right he will be up there with Neur and co.

his kicking is fine ,he doesn't have someone tall to hit, silva ,navas, sergio, when milner plays he tries to hit him ,
we had the cant save to his left myth and quite frankly that was bollox ,his distrubtion is pretty good, kicking and throwing,he is being asked to get rid quickly,he does that very well.

Not forgetting dealing with crosses and corners sam.

+1 ...... ridiculous statement to make, Eike Immel is a goalkeeping legend and should have his own topic............. ;-)

Needs to become a sweeper if he wants to become top 5 in the world.

Personally don't think he's got it in his locker though. Hope he proves me wrong. Fantastic shot stopper and leader. Mentally strong and a winner.

He's the best goalkeeper in England; De Gea has spent the season making routine saves look spectacular, and Curtois has been fairly steady for someone so young but both have also made dubious attempts at saving certain shots that would be perceived as absolute clangers if Joe made them.

He's the most eloquent and honest of our players in the media; after Naismith beat him to the ball against Everton, he took questions square on and pointed out that awful marking had left the scot unmarked, and he decided it was worth attempting to stop what would likely have been a goal either way. He never hides from scrutiny and is as passionate about this club as any member of this forum; indeed, he's done more for Manchester City Football Club than any fool questioning his credentials on here ever will.

The hipsters who now rate doing a Barthez circus act outside your box as fundamental elements of a top-class goalkeeper need a reality check; he tried charging out of his area last season, I assume under orders from the new management, and endured the worst spell of his career. As someone rightly pointed out, Joe is peerless one-on-one with opposition strikers and if our shoddy defensive unit allows the opposition through on goal, I'd rather he wait inside the box and close down the player at his own discretion.

Goalkeeping is and always will primarily be about making saves; Joe does it better than most.

I totally agree that you don't need to be a sweeper to be a top goalkeeper.

Neuer has made it fashionable, but Neuer is one of the best goalkeepers of all-time and one of a kind.

Everybody raved about how comfortable Valdes was on the ball at Barcelona. He's only a sub at Man Utd now, since he's not actually that good a goalkeeper.

Casillas and Buffon were never sweepers and were both truly world class goalkeepers.

If we had to keep a clean sheet, there's no goalkeeper in the Premiership I'd trust more than Hart to keep it.
