If we can find someone with the same mentality and intelligence of Joe in the centre of the park we'll be fine for leadership next season. He was the same when he was with England in the World Cup. Spoke open and honestly about the team's disappointment in the way things had gone and about how it was up to the players to turn things around. If it wasn't so unfashionable for a keeper to be captain then I'd be calling for him to be leading the side. He should be vice captain though - he pulls it out of the bag in big games, he motivates in the tunnel and he's a natural leader.

He might not be a Van der Sar or Valdes with his feet but he's not half as bad in that aspect as some suggest. I just find it pretty sad that after a good performance and on the lad's birthday some people are lookIng to be critical. You said yourself he's a brilliant reactionary stopper and for me the best in the world on one on ones. The guy will go down as City's greatest, he'll probably be England's most capped player and break the Premier Lge clean sheet record.
