The first goal is save able, for a top goalie, as he has LOS. Hart's has an inherent weakness .. not great reading, anticipation, positioning and quick reaction or reflexes due to his large size or frame, that led to goals especially on the left side. It was not a grass cutter by any stretch.

Likewise 2nd goal he was hoping to backstop (with his butterfly style or stretched arms -- a reactive exercise ) rather than being proactive.

These are my observations and it also dovetailed with the notion that he is not comfortable with his feet or distribution due to his lack of 'football skills or football nous' in augmenting or strengthening our back four and our dominating brand of football rather than the 'hoofed and lumped football' that Hart displayed. Very exasperating to see that when he has the time and space to distribute with his feet.

As some of us posted he is a weak link which as a top WC club we need to address. We can't be sentimental just because he is English. We need a top notch GK that is head and shoulder above the typical quintessential goalie in the modern era of football.

You badly need to get laid.

Funny that Seaman, a man I think would know a thing or two about goalkeeping, is saying Joe is the best in the league in the vid at the top of the page.

Also read quotes from Yaya in which he was talking about our great players, in which he mentioned Hart, so obviously he doesn't think he's our weak link either.

I think Joe is a good keeper and one of the best shot stoppers around but his distribution & coming out for crosses/corners are his main weaknesses. You can almost see the fear in our defenders when the opposition gain a corner. Too many times he flaps or miss judged a cross, im not a fan of punching the ball out its too dodgy as we have seen in the past.Ill even forgive Joe for that 35 yarder he conceded at his near post against West Ham as I just think that was a sweet strike but as a keeper he is good but there are better out there and for him being not far apart from Neuer is a silly statement. Neuer is far more than a keeper he is a sweeper too so he will make mistakes as he is almost another outfield player but he does all his keeping skills with class, if he comes for a corner he gets there

Oh and someone mentioned that Joe has one us more points than lost i dont think than is an accurate one it will be close maybe in champs league hes kept us in it but in league we should of had more clean sheets hats for sure even tho our record on that front is a good one.

We have great top players all around comparable to BM's with the exception of Hart/Neuer comparison.
Its silly to suggest that there is no GK with those skills or attributes that can't be determined or scouted. A GK with football nous & skills (who has a repertoire of kicks and football nous in playing outwith sound distribution) too. Neuer isa great GK because of those 'basic attributes' and that is manifested on a top CL team. Nobody is suggesting that Neuer is a top defender or outfield player!

On the other hand we have a top team that plays possession football and mostly dominate our opponents on the domestic scene.
The weak link is Hart who lacks those attributes and that is glaringly obvious as he doesn't add the extra dimension to the back four of our great team. We lack the option of another outfield player to pass back who can 'distribute' rather than lump or pumped the ball up field and turnover to the opponent cheaply. We need a GK with GK skills and can 'think with his feet' too. That is with footie skills or football nous of a modern era GK.

Most of the times City keeps clean sheets because of our outfield players, totally dominating our opponent and limiting them to few attempt,s and not because of Hart who is seldom call for 'duty'. The stats revealed so.

A GK who can sweep or have the defenders back when our defense is penentrated or breached too.

For me , he has his world class moments but occasionally he lets himself down with his concentration levels at times, personally there are 4 premier league keepers i'd take over him - De Gea, Courtois, Lloris & Begovic.

Let it go, Shay, let it go.

Think Hart is a very very good keeper but I do have one or two reservations and always have had. These are lie to his left and quick, accurate distribution.
I think in a mid table team he would win player of the year most years. He might even win PFA player of the year as well. The major issue I have with him is that he seems to excel when he's incredibly busy. At Birmingham he was fantastic. Games against Barcelona and Real Madrid he excelled. Could have been 10 springs to mind!!
He's made a top save at Everton last time we won the league and he most certainly earned us a point at Spurs one year (0-0 first game of the season).
My question is; how many games/points has he won for us? I appreciate some of that is very subjective, but De Gea qualified the rags for the champions league, almost single handedly. Although Joe seems like a top bloke, is English and certainly has had some extraordinary games, is he good enough, in the other aspects of what now constitutes being a top class keeper? That'll be in distribution, sweeping up and that almost indefineable quality of just being very very good, at the exact right time. These are getting skills that separate great from world class. It applies to all positions and I, for one, think that he will be remembered as great but not world class.

It's hard to quantify but when we were performing poorly last season a significant reason we finished second was down to Joe's saves and Kun's goals.

You speak highly of the donut thief single-handedly ensuring the rags qualification for the CL, yet Joe's shot-to-save ratio was still marginally higher.
He had more clean sheets than the donut thief, he had a much better clean sheet per game ratio, he conceded fewer goals overall, and he won a greater percentage of the games in which he played. I agree that his distribution could be better, but it's improving. There's very little to separate the top goalkeepers in the Pl as the margins are that small.

I can't get my head around the idea that some believe he is detrimental to the team or that we'd improve significantly with a replacement. It strikes me as bizarre, especially on the back of 6 PL games played and only 2 goals conceded (those 2 being debatable as goalkeeper error).
