But who in the last two seasons has deserved to get a run out? Pellers will pick Nacho he clearly rates him very highly. Have faith blue
Have you ever heard of Isco?
Exactly this mate well saidIsco, Cazorla, Godin, Rossi...Pellegrini has famously played youth at every single club he's ever been at.
He arrived when none of our youth players were really ready to feature so they went on loan, and now they've been promoted to the first team. All 3 will feature heavily.
He's even told the papers that Kalechi will be the third choice striker, but still people act like 2 seasons outweigh the rest of his 20 years playing kids, not just occasionally, but making them the focal point of his teams.
I agree mate, Pellegrini had a good record at Malaga and Villareal with young players. I think he was under too much pressure the last two years to win trophies to risk young players, and as you say, we didn't have the quality there.
Right from the start he seemed to have faith in Nacho. You only have to watch him to understand why, he looks an incredible talent who is ready for the Premier League.
I think the pressure is off him a bit this season. It's pretty widely accepted that he'll be leaving at the end of the season with a healthy pay off, and I think he's been instructed to move towards a 433 and introduce some of the young players. Really looking forward to this season.
Our board have made it a clear strategy to develop youth based on the Ajax/Barca model. The investment in the academy is proof of this.
As much as Pellegrini will be largely left to it in relation to picking the team, each season there will be a full detailed review of things. Under FFP this has included key parts of the squad to improve and funding available and we've executed our strategy fairly well. Though people talk of high prices for Fernandinho/Mangala and how we could have signed Sanchez - we scored more than anyone again last season which confirms we were correct in investment in midfield and defence.
This season review has identified the need for homegrown players and to lower the age of the squad. It also follows a good season at youth level and we now have Nacho, Lopes and Denayer offering serious options at first team level, with even more to follow next time around. I think the strategy at left back is to give Angelino a chance following his loan with New York City. The club aren't afraid to take risks with young players and give them a chance, they've just been waiting for the right time. And that time is now coming. I've said on other threads this season our first team squad could include the likes of Zuculini, Delph, Sterling, De Bruyne, Aguero, Nacho, Bony, Denayer, Mangala, Hart, Lopes who all have 4-10+ seasons at the top level in them.
Something Arsenal, Chelsea and the rags have failed to do historically is replace their key players quickly. We're thinking about the future before it's happened. We're looking at who can be the next Kompany, Yaya, Silva and Aguero for us and things are very positive.
We've been hammered in the media for not bringing through enough youth players. I'd like to see what they have to say in 5 years time.
Fantastic post mate, and I couldn't agree more with your analysis.
As I understand it, all of the youth teams play 433. When the first team moves to that, it will make the youth player's transition to the first team so much more seamless.

Think you'd better check the new Pellegrini thread, mate. ;)
