He runs himself out, is the problem & can't always get back when we lose the ball. He hasn't got the legs to be some Colin Bell type character, charging up & down the pitch tackling, but he makes a few good interceptions during games. He was no different at Wolfsburg. I watched him run out of steam in several games defensively, but he'll still find a burst of energy to win a match, as he did v Seville.
On the ball, he creates stuff every game, more than any other City player. He did v Watford in a middling performance. Others wasted the openings he made.
We have several players who are not great without the ball but great with it. DeBruyne imo is the most dangerous of those. But playing all of them, is a problem vs some teams, maybe even playing two of them is a problem in this system.
I will be interested to see the difference in a (hopefully) Pep team, where players like DeBruyne & Silva wil, in theory, have to run in shorter bursts with more intensity when we lose the ball. I recon KDB will be brilliant at that. possibly Silva too.
