From RAWK
Nice to see young raheem find his level in the prem against relegeation fodder. Waiting for his minor impact against United and Sevilla in the next games.
That RAWK comment is bitter, short-sighted and manages to miss so many points - chief among them is that we dropped 9pts to relegated teams last season. If Sterling helps to prevent that he's worth every penny.

sterling scored more goals then the whole Liverpool did against then this season, in fact bony did score more then Liverpool did as well

Was great yesterday, it was alluded to in the pre match thread but those sorts of matches is were in previous seasons we've come unstuck because we didn't turn up. Well, Between Sterling and De Bruyne we have players who want to put a shift in even against lower opposition.

At 20, getting regular game time surrounded by amazing players, he could become something very special.

despite what Pellegrini says about him not being a striker, I thought the position he played made the most of his ability. He is small, and so quick that he can create a bit of space in the penalty area and get a shot away. I prefer him as a 2nd striker to a winger.
Fully agree, I'm hoping what Pellers meant was that he's not a natural striker (which we all know), not that he necessarily won't play there. His movement and pace is impossible to defend against, if he developed a shot on him he could be up there with the worlds elite.

Its not unknown for young strikers to be quite wasteful initially but then it all seems to fall into place and they score for fun. Gary Lineker was hopeless at converting chances when he first came into the Leicester team, 7 goals in his first 37 games. But he didn't do too badly, and he didn't have the most powerful of shots.

Even Sergio could only manage 7 goals in 42 appearances in his first season at Atletico when he was a year younger than Sterling his now. He followed that up with 27 goals from 50 appearances the following season.

Sterling's 2nd goal received the most praise yesterday, but the way he shifted the ball to the right for the 3rd was a classic predatory striker's finish.

Took much more responsibility most of the time and the performance should do his confidence a world of good. Those of us who had a little moan about his lack of drive so far should hopefully be munching on our words this time next week.

seem to remember a few dipper ex players , particularly thompson and aldridge , stating jordan ibe was a better player than Raheem , maybe when Raheem has knocked his 2oth goal in this season and collected his premiership medal (whilst Ibe gets splinter on the dippers bench) , they will realise their comments are formed by their bitterness and envy

Sterling's second goal was a joy to watch. Excellent control and hesitation. The sky's the limit. Dude is still only 20.
