Great game and exactly how you revenge a poor performance. Took his goals well especially the second one. Looks to have a great understanding with KDB but it's only short notice.

I hope he keeps it up now with two big games coming up. That is when he can silence up his critics.

That performance was a glimpse into what Sterling can become if he finds consistency and continues to improve his finishing.

He was absolutely excellent. He has a great ability to beat players without touching the ball, just clever body movement and then using his pace. His second goal was fantastic, it was a Messi style finish where he was just so composed and waited for the defenders and keeper to commit and then just slotted it into the goal. Worked incredibly well with Bony and had a strikers movement in terms of anticipating the ball through and playing on the shoulder.

seem to remember a few dipper ex players , particularly thompson and aldridge , stating jordan ibe was a better player than Raheem , maybe when Raheem has knocked his 2oth goal in this season and collected his premiership medal (whilst Ibe gets splinter on the dippers bench) , they will realise their comments are formed by their bitterness and envy

Dont hold your breath waiting for them to realise, you'll go blue and die.

Was away all weekend and so although knowing the score did not get to attend or watch highlights etc. I have watched them today and the one thing that impressed me the most was his timing of his runs.

Despite the 3 goals he was not clinical and it was his skill and runs as opposed to shooting power/ accuracy that impressed. He obviously could have had more there was the chances missed, occasions where the ball was not played into him (Nasri seemed to miss an opportunity to slide him in). He was just relentless in making intelligent runs off the last man, for one of his chances when Bony played him in Sterling starts to go stops a few times as the ball was not played, in doing so he stayed onside and when the ball was played was ahead of the last man.

He has got on with his work well at a time where the media where looking to pounce on him and this hatrick is just reward for this. Hopefully his next reward will be a high profile winner (next weekend would be good).

Keep up the goodwork Raheem!!

Excellent piece by Michael Cox (Zonal Marking) on Sterling:

Good article, Michael Cox seems a very keen observer of tactics and he picks up on some useful information that I can miss when watching the game.

I don't think he played as well as what everyone is making out to be honest, plenty of room for improvement which is an exciting thought to say the least.

And no i haven't been on the crack pipe.......

To be honest, I think that's the agent just having a pop at Brendan Rodgers. Everything he says about City is complimentary.

It appears that manager and player are communicating well at City, and everything about their relationship and the role Sterling is being asked to perform is absolutely clear. Ward has high praise for everyone at Manchester City, especially assistant manager Brian Kidd who has been doing extra sessions with Sterling individually, working on his finishing.

So Sterling is in a good place, and as Ward relaxed into the interview, it looks like he's in a good place too. Looking back now, does he hold regrets about how the situation at Liverpool was handled?

'Yes I do and no I don't. Let me explain. Look at Raheem now, he's buzzing, he's happy and he's at a good club, with good players, a good manager, good coaches and good staff. He's in a good place.'
