I don't get where so many keep saying he has so much potential, he just looks consistently average to me, so lightweight as well. Thing is, he is the sort of player who will be poor for weeks, then have one great match and suddenly he's Pele again. As we have spent so much on him we will persevere with him but in my view, he's not going to be the player so many think he could be.

Hopefully he's not the new Steve Daley, a player who would have been ok if we'd paid half the price for him but was weighted down by a hugely inflated transfer fee

He isn't the player that some people think he is now never mind what they think he could be

A very average player at best, will never be a world beater

Pellegrini should be sacked for keep playing him on the fucking left when his left foot is fucking wank

I completely agree.

Aaron Lennon was just as good as that age but he wasn't overhyped as he played for Spurs, not Liverpool.

Exactly. Just because he shows early promise, it doesn't mean that his career will continue on the same trajectory. At the minute, every time he scores or goal or makes a good assist it is seemingly viewed as proof of improvement, like he is constantly getting better. In reality, any half decent winger would score and set up the odd goal in a title chasing team.

He may have already peaked for all we know. I struggle to see where he will improve because his issues lay with his actual technical ability. He cannot strike the ball cleanly whether he is shooting or passing. Even his control isn't crisp and he tends to either leave the ball behind when be dribbles or he just gets it taken off him.

Given his size, he doesn't have the physicality to breeze past challenges and given how one footed he is, playing him on the left, every man and his dog knows exactly what he is going to do.

In his defence, he shows good team discipline and had a great work rate and he obviously has great pace. The problem is, every time I talk about his positives, I always end up listing things that have nothing to do with his actual ability.

As for the price tag, we have paid world class superstar money for potential, and that is an error. We have over paid by about £25m if you wanted to include his potential in the deal. If you were just talking about his current ability, I don't think you could argue with him being worth anywhere between £10m - £15m.
