I'm with the old school on this, as has been said, the blue dippers soon wound their necks in when they got some treatment... Worth a few yellows and the odd red to send the message out..!

Send the message out? Have you been watching Goodfellas and The Godfather recently? Wise up for fooks sake.

Your view of the game seems a tad naive.
Its worse than that.

so what do we do then? go on this'll be good.

since time began footballers have carried out revenge tackles. AT ANY LEVEL.

Vinny did it against Swansea and the hacking stopped, Everton toned down the physicality once Fernando and Mangala had left a few of them on their backsides. Anyone who's played the game at any level knows that if one of your teammates is getting kicked about or bullied, the best way to stop it is to leave the c**t doing it on the ground.

The problem with giving it back is that we get yellows and reds for the slightest touch.
We didn't get either deserved sending off against Everton when we did it.

Spot on agueo93:20.

Re: Sergio Aguero

I just read our beloved Kun Aguero is the second most prolific striker in the world this season. He scores on average 0,93 goals per game.
In third place comes Diego Costa at 0,92.
Messi 4th at 0,87.

Ronaldo's stats this season is just mindblowing: He leads the pack with 1,79 goals per match, that's 25 goals in 14 matches.
And I thought he had his best season behind him.

nobody does but if we aren't going to get protection from the ref we have to tidy it up ourselves. we can't have some 2 bit thug at Everton putting our stars out of the game for weeks on end. what's he worth like 500k, our asset is worth 90m. needs looking after.

Tidy it up ourselves? Fook me you sound like a character out of a Tarantino film. Wake up and smell the coffee - this is professional football we are talking about, not some 2 bob game down the local rec on a Sunday morning!

It may be pro football but it still happens. Take a look at the swamp and tell me that the £28 million flop that is Fellaini does not employ Sunday league tactics, but he does not try it on with Ya Ya . Maybe its because he respects him or maybe he fears the reprisal that would come his way.

That curly headed thug elbowed zab in the head at the last old Trafford derby. If I remember correctly he also committed a bad foul on him too.

Instead of chasing around look for retribution or sending messages out, we kept eleven men on the park and won the game easily. In fact the only chance they would have had of getting some points, and denying is the title, is if we had had ten men.

You don't play Russian roulette with modern refs. City look after themselves physically just fine.

Re: Sergio Aguero

I know I haven't been part of this conversation but I've just been reading all this about revenge tackles etc and I've got to say, isn't that just going down to the Roy Keane level? And weren't we all outraged and disgusted by what he did to Alfie and his apparent pride in it?

Just saying...

I agree. We are a better club than that. We don't want to regress to where the sport was 20 years ago

Do these posters really want City to be cast in the same light as these otherteams who "dish it out". We are an honest club and long may that continue. City does not need the mass media coming down on us because we start to dish out what some perceive as justice.

Just as an aside, did these posters get excited when Samir nearly broke the legs of the guy in the EC game? I certainly didn't.

The festive season is upon us. I was trying to be kind ;.)

Agree that my view may come across as naive - I guess I like to think that the game is played and officiated in the right spirit. I played at at half decent level - half decent enough to understand and appreciate that sometimes those heavy handed tactics work but not stupid enough to agree that they work at this level. Christ how many times did you see the replay of the Mangala and Fernando incidents v Everton. We were very lucky to escape with a yellow on each occasion (as was Gareth Barry for his elbow). It's 2015 soon guys - Don Revie's Leeds team was 40 years ago!
