On a brighter note tonight, excellent goal - shades of QPR. Gives us a glimmer.

2 away from his century for us, come on Serg!

He's actually on 99 in all competitions now, the history section on here hasn't been updated from last night yet.

His performance in the second half was unreal. He bullied Pique and Mascherano, held the ball up brilliantly, was skipping past players at will. And the goal was fantastic - the acceleration to reach the ball first was unbelievable.

It's true that you can't help feeling that he (and Silva) deserve a better chance at going all the way in the Champions League.
I wouldn't resent either of them for leaving - we're just not at the level they could be.

Unless he gets a handful of team-mates on an equal level, I would not begrudge him wanting to leave in the next few years, such is his phenomenal talent.

He deserves the very best from the game and an absolute magnificent professional and standard bearer for our club.

We're not far off barcas level. If we sign two world class central midfielders in the summer, we will be closer to the elite than you think. Maybe a winger who scores and provides would put us level with them. We can't afford anymore fuck ups in the summer, get koke or pogba. We've got good strikers and a decent defence, although many would argue agaisnt that.

I agree with you though, I wouldn't blame him for leaving if we fail again next year. We're not out yet anyway, were going to win at barca and lift the trophy in Berlin.

Great player but does he influence enough games consistently to be on a Messi,Ronaldo or even Suarez level? Not for me

Watched highlights last night and they said 98 as does soccerbase
History section here says 99
Wikepedia has it as 97

Which is the right figure?
