Re: Sergio Aguero

Given the circumstances, I actually think a 0-0 draw at home to Barca would be a decent result. Not to say we should play for that, but try to avoid conceding a goal at all costs. We can then go to Nou Camp, hopefully with a full strength team and go through if we can get a score draw.

dont see why anyone would say scrap Barca, its a dream tie, and we should all by immensely looking forward to it.

i agree, but from what i am reading on here, some think we should prioritise chelsea over it because the fa cup is the more likely one to win.

i just think if we can beat barca we have every chance of going all the way, i think manuel believes it and if we do knock barca out i think we as fans on a whole will start to believe we can.

the champions league is far superior to the fa cup, we have a great team and should be looking ahead in europe and aiming to be the best.

financially from the clubs point of view they will be seeing the champions league as the most important, the further we go the more chance we have of breaking even and attracting bigger sponsors.

I think the club will be doing all they can to get both him and Fernandinho back for Barcelona, I know a few on here reckon we should scrap Barcelona but I think Manuel feels if we can beat them we have a good chance to go all the way.

Stick 'em both in an oxygen tent for the next week!

Re: Sergio Aguero

In his first injury lay off, the rest of the team were flying, Nasri especially, and Negredo and Dzeko were fresh and could take up the challenge. However in this second spell without Sergio we've really struggled, 3 scoreless games out of the last 4 spells it out pretty clearly. Negredo and Dzeko have been carrying knocks and look tired and Silva and Toure both have had to shoulder the lions share of creativity without Nasri for most of this time.

SO its vital we make sure he is fully fit before returning, even if its not until the Cup Final, we'll just have to try and grind out a hard fought 1-0 if it has to be, victory over Stoke. We miss him, his fellow strikers miss him, the midfield misses him and if we have any chance at all of winning the league we will need him.

He would have bagged at least 1 tonight. No need to rush him back. Shouldn't need him against Stoke. Save him for the final.

If he's fit, I'd play him 25 mins off the bench. That should be good for his match fitness. What killed him was playing against West Ham and then a full 90 against Watford. In hindsight, that was a bit penny wise and pound foolish.
