Absolutely, i can't imagine any reason why he thought Aguero should not of played.
How about because he only traveled back from international duty the day before the match...? Look at the other guys for Argentina, Messi & Lavezzi both didn't start/play for their respective clubs.

Pretty legit reason in my opinion. No need to risk a tired injury prone player when we have a good backup, following Barca's lead & bringing him on if needed for me would have been a reasonable thing to do.

Pellegrini seems a little eager to play him all the time, even if it might not be a good choice. If he is still feeling it tomorrow he simply shouldn't start. Bony will do the job.

Feel free to tell me who could have played in his place. I'll give you Aguero's --> Bony. Fernando wasn't in the team, Delph injured, so who's taking his spot?

I get your point, my original team line up was Delph in place for Fernandinho (I believe I posted this on here actually as a team prediction) before he pulled his hammy of course. But it's pretty obvious why Dinho played, whereas less obvious why Aguero played (also forced us into a change of formation by doing so).

He's our best player and we were away from home to the team second in the league?

You can't account for injuries anyway but it's not like he pulled a muscle, he got purposely kicked in the knee. Where would that be on a risk assessment?

Just to clarify I'm not against him starting, I was just defending whoever said Aguero shouldn't have as everyone jumped on him like he's an idiot - yet for me there is a perfectly good reason for why he might not have started.

I've not mentioned the injury, whether he had got injured or not makes no different to the point I'm making, I feel Pellegrini risks Aguero where other managers may not. You say we were away from home to the team 2nd in the league, but lets be honest here, Palace won't finish 2nd, they might be top half, but we could (and did) cope without Aguero against them. Barcelona played Atletico Madrid away from home & rested Messi - that is a real title contender clash & their manager protected a potentially tired Messi.

Edit: Also our best player is Silva ;-)

I love the backseat driving that goes on here. Any player can get injured at any given time ffs, especially when dirty fucking cloggers decide to give them a whack right on the knee. We could always rest him every game I suppose, that way he'll never get another injury in his career.

This is one of the top 5 footballers in the world, if he's fit, he plays.

"Fresh" in context ...like jetlag fresh or fresh like not fit due to injury?
I think Kun was bit jetlagged and we all are aware of his injury history.
If he didnt play aguero and we failed to win Pellegrini would have been lambasted with abuse. Couldnt win both ways. Plus the internationals didnt have any effect on his injury it was just a nasty challenge, could happen in any game.

Messi din't play because he din't train with Barcelona as he was with his kid. Lavezzi din't play because Di Maria played.
