If Kompany sorts that calf injury out then we're sorted for the foreseeable future with Kompany, Otamendi and Mangala.

Lots of people outside City keep talking about City's defence being a weakness, but they forget that we keep having to change the central defenders. We haven't been able to play a settled pair. I think City are intent on making sure that when Kompany returns he will return fully recovered but it doesn't appear to be imminent.

I think Joe Hart's point was that we have to accept he isn't going to ever be injury free and we can't rely on him as we have. Of course he will be a first team player when fit. But he's going to be a carefully managed 30-40 games a season man at best. And maybe not even that given his record recently.

For me, we need a real leader out there to take the defensive responsibility Kompany carries.

That's what I'm hoping. He has all the physical attributes and has shown he is willing to fight for his place. From what I have read he is a thoroughly decent individual and has had some tough times and I hope he succeeds for us

Me too. IMO he deserves at least another season to prove himself fully. He's at 50:50 right now but can get better with age as most centre halves do.
 
I looked at the gallery of today's training & he seems to be wearing boots in the group photo as opposed to Fernando who isn't & has a coat on.
Maybe I'm clutching at straws though.....
 
He's a big miss. But where do we go, if he's only coming back, playing 4/5 games and then out for months.
Joe says he needs managing, but so far it seems no one knows how.

Bit worrying as he is our one true Captain.
 
I hate doing stuff like this, I was told last week off a guy I know and trust that an ex player had told a few people that Vinnys calf was knackered, perhaps career threatening .
I am posting what I was told and obviously hope that it's absolute bollocks, but the length of time he has now been out as got me slightly worried
