People need to calm down about VK playing for Belgium. He's a very proud man and he probably wants to represent his country, he's a leader and if he's fit and selected then yes, he should play. Isn't the fact that he's an example to younger players, a true leader and a terrific football why we love him? We can't expect him to just posses those qualities for us and not for Belgium. He knows himself if he's up for it and if he thinks he can play then he should play.

i don't give a fuck about their NT....if he pick a injury it's US the ones who will lose from all of that....at the end of the day as proud as he is about playing for them he should not forget that it's the club the one that pays his wages and should consider the club before the country...if something will happen with him if he will play then i hope the club will get hard into him/NT... we already lost silva aguero and kolarov in the space of 2-3 days because of injuries and also toure is out with injury...

If he plays against club wishes he should be fined and stripped of the captaincy with the amount of players we are already missing he needs to put club first

I'd prefer it if he didn't play but let's look at it from his point of view.

This is far from a meaningless match for Belgium:-

1 Belgium need to win be a top seed next Summer. It's between them and Italy currently.

2 If Belgium do win they go to number 1 in the FIFA rankings for the first time ever. For a country that's never won anything meaningful that in itself is a big deal. I'm sure he'll want to be part of it if at all possible.

Like I said I'd rather he didn't play but I certainly wouldn't blame him if he chooses to.

He is part of it,he has captained them to where they are
Playing so he can be on the pitch at the end has a bit of john terry and the trophy photo about it to me,if he gets injured that really fucks us up

It's a difficult one for him Karen. I'm hoping that he only plays if he is fully fit. He's in a bit of a no-win situation. He's aware that we don't want him to play but that Marc Wilmots does. It's difficult for him being both club and country captain. Ultimately if he has to choose I think he'll pick his country. Didn't something similar happen when Mancini was manager? I seem to vaguely remember him playing for Belgium against club instructions. I could be talking nonsense of course!

Yes he did and that was rumoured to be the start of the breakdown between him and bobby
If he wasn't coming off another calf injury then of course he should play but we know how easily his calf goes again and mp specifically said he was going to support Belgium and not to play as he wasn't ready till after the break so he will be risking a problem there too
He could play and be ok of course then this hand wringing i am doing means nothing but i can't support him if he goes ahead and takes the risk and then can't play for us with the derby in less than 2 weeks

I'll never slag a player for wanting to represent their country. It's an honour and for some fans, they will never see their nations stars play otherwise. There are not many Argentinians or Belgians actually playing domestic football in their country's league. So I can see why they want to play for their country.

Vinny will not want to purposely get injured and he knows that at City, the competition at CB is as fierce as ever. We had a £30 million CB on the bench due to VK and EM's form. I could quite easily see Ota and Eli forging a top partnership for us. With no guarantee of a first team place and going into a WC year this is a crucial season for VK.

Vinny will only play if he is 100% over his last injury.

It's a tricky situation.

Obviously common sense would dictate that he doesn't need to play.

But if he asks not to play citing that he isn't fit, can't the national team put in an application to block him playing the next game for City?
