Yes he did and that was rumoured to be the start of the breakdown between him and bobby
If he wasn't coming off another calf injury then of course he should play but we know how easily his calf goes again and mp specifically said he was going to support Belgium and not to play as he wasn't ready till after the break so he will be risking a problem there too
He could play and be ok of course then this hand wringing i am doing means nothing but i can't support him if he goes ahead and takes the risk and then can't play for us with the derby in less than 2 weeks

I'm like you in that I couldn't careless about Belgium (I find it difficult to have much interest in England these days if I'm being honest) but I do understand his dilemma. If he plays and his calf does go again I'm sure that there will be severe repercussions when he gets back and faces Manuel. I'm thinking he won't "risk it" and play regardless if it's causing him a problem. The issue will be if he feels okay but it turns out during the game that it hasn't fully healed.

This is the third time that Vinnie has pulled this stunt. He fell out big time with Hamburg because he insisted on playing in the Olympics against their wishes ... and a month later joined City. He did the same thing with Mancini in 2013. He was out for TWO MONTHS for us but then insisted on turning out for Belgium, even though RM personally told Wilmots that he wasn't fit enough to play. Mancini told the press he wasn't happy ... and next thing you know, there's whispers that Vinnie has got the huff and is thinking of joining Barcelona. A few weeks later, Bobby gets the bullet. Now, after being plagued with injuries all last season, he was out for 50 days and missed 14 games, including not starting the last six games, he turns up early for preseason because he is supposedly determined to give us his best this year ... and promptly gets injured again. He's been out for a month and is obviously not match fit yet insists on playing for Belgium again. I like Vinnie a lot but at some point this begins to look like taking the piss. Don't some clubs have a rule that if you are not fit enough to play for the club in the last game before international duty, you are automatically not fit enough to play for your country? Or did I just make that up? In any event, that seems like a fair rule of thumb to me.

He's meant to be fit for Saturday so likely fully fit or close to it today. A bit of game time might actually be good to get him in shape for the weekend and Derby.

Wasnt he alledgedly fit to play at Spurs then pulled out at the last minute?
Surely he needs to prove he is fit to play for his club begore he can play for his country?

I think if he plays and gets injured again he should be dropped. Need to start planning life without Kompany anyway.

Do we? He's 29, John Terry is only just being phased out now at the age of 34 at Chelsea.

A 30 year old John Terry would have been slaughtered in our side. He's had legs out of his career under Mourinho because they're a defensive side by nature. That's about the very opposite scenario to here.

Pellegrini might just lose it for the first time, if Kompany plays for Belgium and gets injured. He may get nasty.

Surely Kompany has earned the right to go and play for Belgium, he's been phenomenal for our club always giving 100%. It's a measure of the man that he's so passionate for his country, as well as his club.
