Player Topic: Wilfried Bony (2014/15)

He's already shown glimpses of one of his main strengths, his ability to hold the ball up and outmuscle his man allowing the midfield to catch up with play. I think this was a big factor in signing him, his goal scoring speaks for itself but other factors of his game that are as important with City who are intent on playing a certain way. Given time to learn our system and what's expected off him will only see improvement.
It would have done wonders for his confidence if he'd managed to score one of the decent chances he's had but the signs are good. I wouldn't bet against him opening his account against Burnley and finishing the season with 5/6.

His presence at set pieces contributed to the fact that we scored the most goals from corners last season in the PL. His ability to make the ball stick and bring others into play helped us score some wonderful team goals.

Bony in theory can provide all of this and we basically are using the money we are due from the sale of Negredo to pay for Bony.

I agree we should keep Negredo hes good and worker , Bony is good but not a big worker . I agree with post there above 100 mill on 4 average or good players . I would rather have two great players or even one truly great let say one who can make impact of Aguero . Now if Bony show anything resembeling Negredo form from the start of the season then i would get this hes good praise. but hes good on control and that and miss three including one against Newcastle 4 clear chances, hes job is to score goals , When he score goals then we could praise control to . They say u can't judge hes play on one game and 2 20 minutes play , but they can praise him. I say wath was said before , Edin would be called shit if he play like that and miss 3 clear ones. I could bet with Sweansea who is team working for one striker Negredo , Dzeko , they would all score a lot .I m waiting for us to start buying players who can scare squads from the first minute , impact from first season , first game.

I didn't say we should have kept Negredo but thanks for agreeing anyway. Negredo wanted out, there was no point forcing him to stay especially with the deal we were able to get with Valencia.

As for Dzeko being called shit, if he put himself about like Bony did the other night I for one wouldn't be calling him shit, I'd be praising him for his effort.

Are you having a laugh? We obviously needed a striker. In the month before we signed him we were forced to play Milner up front, due to lack of players in that department. Milner. Love the guy, but he's not a bleedin striker. With jovetic and Aguero both being made of glass we were always going to need a fourth striker, it was criminal we let Negredo go without getting anyone in on the last day in August.

Also a 'cumbersome forward'? He was the top PL scorer in 2014. He's played 156 minutes for us so far, less than two full games, and looked pretty shite in both. But it's literally his first time working with these players; give him time to adapt. I'd rather he started slow and built up to be a city great, than do a Negredo, who started like lightning and then seemed to forgotten how to put in the net within a couple of months. He's got two months till the end of the season, then all summer to get used to our game. If he's still shite at christmas, then I'll understand all the moaning about him. It's ridiculous after a few cameo appearances.

Against Newcastle, Edin has play game Bony yet need to show and not just in that game . Dzeko score 50 PL goals for City and 41 where when result was alive. And u talk if Edin put him self like Bony who did what ,walk game against Barcelona when we had 10 players , go in against Liverpool or did he , I know since Edin come out we did nothing, and miss 3 clear chances on fucking bottom club and control ball.
