Player Topic: Wilfried Bony (2014/15)

Think he's played well in his limited time so far.

Its worth considering the team as a whole haven't been playing amazing recently so can't judge him too harshly, even Aguero hasn't been getting many chances.

I think once we hit a run of form again he will be class for us, his hold up play and bullying of defenders seems a step above what Dzeko can provide while also looking less one dimensional to me. Needs to be a bit more careful with his fancy flicks else he falls into the same trap Jovetic had of doing too much and being a liability giving away possession.

Unfortunately it might be a while before we hit top form again as we seem to have almost accepted the seasons over aside from the Barca game and are just coasting in games, hopefully we turn it around and finish the season on a high. Until then I wouldn't fully judge him.

Agree with much of that. Looking forward to seeing him bring something new to our squad. I do think his giving away possession has been noticeable & the comment re Jovetic is a fair one.

What was he, 28 million ? last thing we needed was another striker, we much more needed some quality in midfield, like a dejong, now weve blown the ffp limit on somebody we didnt need and who 'needs time to settle in'

He has only started one game and come on for 20 minutes in the other three. Bit early to rip him apart isn't it?

For me the sign of a good striker is one who gets in the positions to score goals. He had four good chances to score the other night and two of them were down to the runs he made. His finishing was poor but he scored bags of goals for Swansea so he knows how to find the net.

To counter that, he also needs to learn how we play and learn how to move away from Kun when he is on a run!

bit early to write him off, needs game time before we make judgement. His runs to position are good, he is a good header and even helps defensively with his heading. We just need to see clinical finishing for him to make his mark at this level. That has been missing in the very short time he's played for us but i would guess he has that in his game.

Apart from that one miscue tell me what did he do wrong that would have seen Dzeko ripped apart had he produced a similar performance?

But for a great reaction save from Schwarzer and a great block ( just before Silva scored ) he would've opened his account.

Bony is a terrific signing for City and when he comes good in the not too distant future, the doubters, judging him on a handful of games will be lauding him as a great. For me he will be up there as a brilliant signing with the likes of Zabba, Kompany, Silva & Sergio.

Exactly, new shiny toy syndrome. If Edin play like that miss those chance ,run like Bony run, especially in that Barcelona game when he walk around and we had 10 players , or hes impact at Liverpool game . Edin would be donkey ect. If Bony play that first half against Newcastle like Edin did it would be now Beast 2, or somthing like that. Now Bony is good player , but what i read here is so unbalanced on what I saw on pitch. Problem is that we need more great players , Can we really say we can compere Bony with Messi, Neymar or vampire. We need one more Silva , one more Kun and one young De Jong and I think hes name is Radja Nainggolan(that is mine opinion like i also think Benatia was better buy then Mangala at the time ). We need more great players and especially in defense. Fernando , not improvment on Garcia . Mangala , Demi is better.Edin, Jovetic ,Navas ,Milner, Fenando , Fernandhino , Sinclar , Nastasic , Savic , Garcia , Boyata , Kolarov ,Sanga, Mangala ect. Those are all players from good to decent to plain average and we can have few of those in our team good ones ,even couple of average ones, but this many to beat Barcelona Bayern , Real , no way. We need Hazard and players like that , we need Bayern kinda wingers and then player like Edin or Bony can exploit there ability , we need to buy defense and finally few real fast agresive box to box and DM players who can also play. We need to thanks all these players who take us to next level but we need I think more great players and a ot of this send on there way. How we chose those players in last couple of season I do not know . . So yap Bony will be good,but singing the praise for that performance is deluded.
