Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

Ivory Coast play Angola today in a friendly, I think it's 17.00 hours but not sure if that's local time or not.

My take on Yaya is that he is not lazy but has lost a bit of fitness this season.

He has many strings to his bow, but what was spectacular were the trademark runs. When did you last see him do that? Probably last season. I don't thimk it's because he can't be bothered, but because he just can't.

I don't subscribe to the theory that he's too old to do that. I just think he let his fitness go last Summer.

However why hasn't he worked to get it back over the course of the season? There is an issue there. Does he want to be at City? He didn't in the Summer, but circumstances change

This is a much bigger issue than Pellegrini, because if you get a footballer of this ability and influence, he can shape the club's immediate success more than a manager can.

Compare last season's goal output to this season. That's the difference between being Champions and Cup winners and being also rans.

Care to provide some sources for those stats, please?

This is 2013/2014 season:

Goals: 20 (3rd in league)

Assists: 9 (Tied 6th)

Passes : 71 per game (#1)

Distance Covered: 309KM (#14th / 1st on CIty)

This season:

Passes: 90 per game (#1 by far)

Distance Covered: 180KM (#1 on City; Navas 2nd with 161KM) *This stat was before he left for AFCON. Couldn't find updated version.

Amazing for player who does pretty much everything you want out of football (score, pass, run, etc) and he does it at high level, people still can call him lazy twat. I understand rationale that says City need to transition Yaya out of the team, but calling him lazy is just ridiculous. Do you know how hard it is to make yourself available to complete that many passes, and cover that amount of distance for guy who is that big?

Mate, I'm 15.5st and I did the Manchester 10km in 1hr 15mins (= 75 mins) which was a slow jog, it takes Yaya 90 mins off those stats.

Just look at Yaya's sprint stats (700) on the daily fail link you posted, it's less than Ryan Shawcross (979), Steven Caulker (1079) and Michael Dawson (847) who are central defenders, not even midfielders in a so called "pressing" team. It's not like he doesn't have the opportunity to sprint, he's just fucking lazy.

around 12km a match is a lot, 10 is pretty good, youll see the fittest players achieve around the former. Running in football is so different from jogging, speed bursts always take more fitness and then you have to couple in the strength required to tussle with opponents, another massive factor.

also, finally, the ball is usually in play for around 52 to 58 mins so that's the time frame that their covering the distance in, not 90 mins.

More like unfit.

If you look at his game, and not this season you will see that he covers a lot of ground. I remember seeing some stats and being totally amazed byit

This season I reckon it will have changed. His national manager threatened to drop him from the ACON because of his lack mobility. Ithas becme an issue, but to call him lazy is moronic

Off the ball he has the tendency to be lazy, just look at Rakitic's goal for the perfect example.

Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

He is a professional sportsman who earns the biggest wedge from City, if he is unfit then that is down to him. Trainers and coaching staff cannot be there 24/7, he has to want to put the extra effort in himself.

We all know stats can tell you what you want to see and I am totally against them for those reasons. This season, only a fool would say Yaya is performing like he did for us last season, yet stats can be interpreted to show that he is.

Most of us wanting to show Yaya the exit door are basing this on what we see on the park with his performances, effort and attitude to the greatrer good of the team.

For me, he is on the slide and I honestly believe we have seen the best from him. He now looks de motivated and that appears to be affecting those on the pitch with him.

We all will applaud what he has given us over the years, but time and opportunity has been given Yaya to shine again, and frankly, he hasn't shown the desire to maintain past levels.

Many will still long for more time to regain his fitness and attitude, but IMO, City can no longer afford him that resource.

Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

Maybe he is just trying to drive his price down.
Last big payda
Bigger sign on fee

Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

Ask your self this do you want someone who on the ball is WorldClass makes things happen makes assists scores and scores crucial goals all through his Career? Or someone like Fernandino who brakes play up tracks runners?

Yaya used to be that player, you obviously think he still is and that's fine.

I no longer see him in that light.
