Re: Yaya?

I think Yaya does have to go. I won't lay all the problems today at his door like others, I think Clichy and Navas (why drop Milner?!) were much more at fault. The simple truth is, in this system with such a high line our midfield have to be shit hot every weekend. Now, last season was the same but Yaya was so potent going forward and Fernandinho covered defensively for him well enough that it wasn't an issue. Now however Yaya just goes absent for long periods of games. Combine this with Fernando and Fernandinho seeming to have a lapse in defensive duties and it blows our entire midfield apart.
Add this to the high line and the back four are unnecessarily open and can be easily picked apart, like today and against Stoke at home.

Again I reiterate this isn't completely Yaya's fault but at the same time he seems the least likely of all those guilty to wise up and improve his game. I can't help but think back to the "cake" farce during the summer, his poor performances cannot be a coincidence. I still think we should have cashed in in the Summer, ship him back to Barca and invested in Paul Pogba

Re: Yaya?

had a very strong 2nd half after Jovetic came on, couple of charging forward runs, nearly scored twice....has been disappointing so far this season but can't be criticised too much after his showing post 60 minutes...

Yaya was too subdued in the first half but much better in the second when he made five shots and attempted four dribbles. Biggest complaint overall was that he only hit the target with one out of seven shots in the game.

Ultimately Aguero was a big part in costing us the points today with a miss that he would surely score 9 times out of 10. However he has enough brownie points in the bag to not get criticised. Quite rightly, but however bad Yaya has been in other games, today wasn't one of them

Yaya has not been at his best so far but he is still the player that makes the most passes per game in the league; which makes him a very important player and given that his pass completion is currently better than the rest of the top ten passers, he has not been that bad. His failings are magnified and exaggerated.

Think its time to say thanks, and goodbye. He's been wonderful, but hasn't the legs or drive anymore. We need more energy in the middle.

Unfortunately Pellegrini decided it was better on the bench.

Yaya would have been much more influential had Fernandinho,or Milner, been supporting him and Fernando,as everyone but the boss realises.

Re: Yaya?

Some right bellends on this thread. He is still one of the best players in the PL & would walk into any team. He made our midfield tick today & we would be stupid to get rid of him yet. Luckily the armchair warriors on here don't manage the team or run the club!

Midfield 3 with Yaya at the spear would be a great way to go. Have Fernando, Milly or Fernandinho in a 2 behind, Yaya supporting a lone striker and 2 wingers/inside forwards out wide in Silva/Jovetic/Nasri etc.

Incredible solid base in the centre of the park where we can dominate possession in attack, but defend effectively when we dont have the ball.

wont work, with Yaya advanced we lose all control in midfield. He needs to be deeper than that to affect the game. A much better system would be Fernando aat the base and then Yaya and Fernandinho in front of him, to create a proper 3, but I doubt we would ever see that. Whenever we've had 3 CMs yaya moves into the #10 position and does nothing (offers no control or defensive contribution).
