Re: Yaya?

Yaya would still be a beast but in the following team:

Hart
Zab
Vinny
Mangala
Kolarov
Fernando
Fernandihno
Yaya
Silva
Jovetic
Sergio

Allows merlin in the middle with yaya to dictate play, jovetic xan start left or right and float around and Fernandinho can push on when we are attacking knowing that fernando is behind to cover any counter attacks!

Shame that the manager himself doesn't see this way. That team would be fantastic, balance, power and creativity.

Re: Yaya?

Thought YaYa played well today and was desperately driving us forward throughout the game. He'll leave in due course, but for now we should get behind him and enjoy his ability.

Our best team would always have Milner in it and what on earth anyone things Mangala has done to be thought of as first choice is anyone's guess,he was dreadful today

wont work, with Yaya advanced we lose all control in midfield. He needs to be deeper than that to affect the game. A much better system would be Fernando aat the base and then Yaya and Fernandinho in front of him, to create a proper 3, but I doubt we would ever see that. Whenever we've had 3 CMs yaya moves into the #10 position and does nothing (offers no control or defensive contribution).

Agreed! Yaya most effective position is playing more advanced position, however no one else on the squad can play deep and link the midfield. It is rare quality to make yourself consistently available for the pass, hold ball, play killer/linking passes with great accuracy. Today the opposition was pressing really hard, and that results in teams either playing the ball backwards or losing possession. If you notice with Yaya playing deep, often the team was able to keep possession and beat their pressing. As the game goes on and teams press less & play deeper, Yaya is able to go forward further resulting in better chances.

The problem I have with 2 up front is that Dzeko / Aguero don't do a great job of holding up the ball. Team is setup to playing patient and possession game allowing Zab/Kolarav/Yaya to join the attack, and often Dzeko mishandle the first touch leading to lost possession before the attack even starts!

I think he needs a solid run of games to be honest. A bigger shame is what Nastasic seems to have done to not even get close to selection? !?! Start of last season was fantastic and something very strange has gone on between nasty and the management

Re: Yaya?

For me, our best team for 90% of the games will be:

--------------------------------Hart--------------------------
Zabba-------------Komps------Mangala-----Kolarov
------------------------Yaya--Fernandinho----------
-----------------------------Silva--------------------------
nasri/Milner/Navas--------------------------Jovetic
------------------------Aguero--------------------------

Allows us to control games much better, allows silva to flourish, allows goals from out wide. The system is interchangeable as Dzeko can come in for Aguero and Fernando for Fernandinho and we'd still be pretty effective.

For the bigger games (the ones we want to set up to counter) i'd argue that we through out Yaya altogether, he wont provide defensive support in the # 10 position (whereas Silva would still drop back a lot) and we arent looking for control, put in both Ferns, and have Milner and Navas wide.

Re: Yaya?

Would never have started him today, he's been absolutely shocking for most of this season, complete shadow of his former self. Sends out the wrong message Milner getting benched when he was one of the few players who put a shift in last Tuesday...piss poor.
